[IMG] Ok, I've already finished the game once as a male fighter, but now I'm gonna have a second go as a female bard. Problem is, all the female portraits are awful. I've got some custom jobs sorted out, and I've read the 'Read Me' file, which says:

"Put these in the Portraits directory (in the install directory for the game)"

Sounds simple huh? Well, the problem is when I use Windows Explorer to open the Baldur's Gate folder on my C-drive, I don't see an install directory anywhere. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Other than being a bloody idiot of course! ;)

You have to create a folder called "Portraits" in the Baldurs Gate Program directory. Then you just copy your pictures to the Portraits folder.

The next time you create a character, you can click on "Custom" and pick one of your portraits.

Just be sure that you have two sizes of portrait, one labeled xxxxxxL and one labeled xxxxxxS. The x's denote picture description and the L for Large (body portrait) and S for small (facial portrait).

Just to make this a bit clearer, there is not a directory called 'install.' What they mean is the directory where Baldurs gate was 'installed' on your computer. The reason they do not give a specific location for the directory is that you can chose to instal it anywhere on your hard disk. If you let it be installed in the default location, the the 'install' directory will be found at:

    C:bad:Program Files\Black Isle\Baldur's Gate

Go to that directory and create the new 'Portraits' directory as described in the previous post.

PS. if you still can't find the directory, try using the 'Start/Find/Files or folders' utility that comes with windows.

PPS Sorry if this is too obvious but it sounded from your post that you were actually looking for a directory called 'install.'

[IMG] Cheers for the info guys. I was indeed looking for a directory called 'install', hence the bit about being 'a bloody idiot'! :o
