I was inspired to try a brand new party of level 1 characters in HoF mode. It has been...interesting to say the least.

The key has been to use summons spells and to level squat.

    I have a party of 6

    1 dwarf barbarian
1 human ranger/barbarian or soon will be
    1 human cleric of Lathander
    1 dwarf druid
    1 elf sorcerer
    1 human transmuter

The sorcerer is the only one who "does" anything really. She simply summons the monsters to beat up the enemies. Also she is the only one to level up regularly.

I found that the Hide skill is needed at lower levels but once the Animate Undead and other higher level summoning spells kick in, like, Shadow Conjuration and Monster Summoning 9, there is a lot of smashed monsters around.

I only leveled up the ranger to level 8 so that someone could hide and use the Goblin Slayer Dagger from Ulbrec's wife during the Palisade Fight, otherwise it would not have been possible, with so few spells. The sorcerer was only level 8 then too.

Now I just freed the Shaengarne Bridge and the Sorcerer is level 24. The rest of the party could level up also, but that has been the other key, level squatting, I simply don't level up the other party members who are still on level 1.

This means I get chunky xp!

I get 4600 xp for an Orc Archer, 12000xp for a Maralite Priest and 9000xp for a Bugbear.

Heading back to Targos before going to the Goblin Fortress I plan on buying the fun items from Galloway's, Golden Heart of x and the Kegsplitter of the Shaengarne. Or at least 1 of them.

No hacks or cheats used at all. How sad that I even have the time and patience to do this!

I expect to hit level 30 before killing Guthma!

Should be plain sailing from there on in....
