I think there might have been a similar topic about this in the past but I'm pretty sure it hasn't been brought up in a while and there are a lot of new members on the board.

Collecting is a very interesting human behavior. I once went to an art show that had a number of artist participants. The theme was collecting and it was probably one of the most memorable shows I ever went to.

One man in particular spoke about a whole house full of collections that he had. He collected everything from bits of string to tossed notes found in the street. He collected squeezed toothpaste tubes, bottle caps, washers...you name it, he had it.

Collections can really indicate a lot about a persons character. What kind of collections do you BOM members have?

Knives, I have about 24 or so of various styles and sizes. Watches, I have 14 to date, many don't have a good battery, and I only wear three on a regular basis. I have quite a few pairs of sneakers, but that is more of an occupational hazzard than any kind of obcession. I replace my nursing sneakers about every six months, and hate to get rid of the old ones as they have use left, just not good enough support to pound the ICU floors in.

Well, I only have 2. One which is fighting fantsy game books, fun and almost complete. Don't have 5 because they cost waaay too much on ebay. And my primary, film collection. Got around 400 at present time, but is always going up.

I collect knowledge so that one day I can take over the world. But don't tell anyone.

Other than that, no, I don't collect anything.

Lillian Jackson Braun and Amanda Quick books.
    Magnets
T-shirts from places I've visited or other people have and been kind enough to bring me a souvenier
    Dust - I don't clean very often

I have a reasonable collection of coins but I don't really add new ones any more. My collection of shells is mostly hidden and the one of various stones is forgotten. I have changed, it seems. ;)

I had a funny collection of beer bottles but it was a small one and nothing too impressive. ;) I sort of collect nice old ties, as well. ;)

    Hmmm... :hmm:
    • Stones and sticks, when I was young; I don't add to the collection anymore, but I'm sure it's buried in my room somewhere. :D
    • Wooden weapons. Started with anything resembling a quarterstaff (I had a sunflower stalk for Halloween once) and graduated to oriental practice weapons.
    • 2e materials, to keep my knowledge on the best system ever as complete as possible.
    • Dead hard drives. Something always seems to happen. :(
    • Fiction, specifically Dragonlance and Star Trek. Get 'em for less than a buck on half.com, and they become a nest egg worth more than I bought them for, even at a used book store (D&D and ST books are quite sought after due to rarity). :money: Plus they're damn good reading.
    • Clutter. I really don't like to throw anything away; I'm a packcat. :p
Probably more, but I can't think of it at the moment.

Not that their collections, but I have tons of Game books and Magic Cards. Mostly because I get them assuming that I'll use them. I've had some success with the game books and have some intriguing ideas with the cards...

Mostly I'm a pack rat, and seldom throw anything away...

I have a large coffee tin full of keys. One day I plan to make a sculpture with them. I also have a collection of door nobs that will also become a sculpture if I decide to keep them.

I was collecting homies until they stopped selling them in local vending machines. I think I have close to 100 of those cool little guys.

I also have a fairly large collection of Heavy Metal magazine. I was really liking the older issues but got tired of some of the new stuff. The ones in Canada are censored and I think that is silly considering it is sold as an adult magazine anyway.

I'm not sure if this is a collection or not but I also have a tendancy to buy a lot of blank notebooks.
