[IMG] It was always confusing me. After Sniper's "Cleric Domains" thread, I tried to figure it out, but it was more and more confusing me. What's that I'm talking about?
Well, here is my 'main' question:

Does a (Cleric's) Prestige Class possibly add to his Cleric Domain ability?

    Example:
In Complete Divine you can find the Sacred Fist (a prestige class I'm surely interested in).
If you look at the example of a sacred fist, Alaraster, you see he has the Strength and Destruction Domains. He is a Monk6/Cleric1/SF4.
Since the first 3 levels of Sacred Fist add to his caster level and the 4th not, he is at a cleric's caster level 4.
His strength domain ability gives him the possibility to gain a +4 on his strength.
I'd say his caster level corresponds with that number, since I can't find anything else that could adjust the number.
Also, the destruction domain gives him a +4 on damage when using this domain (plus the standard +4 on attack rolls).

Now look at the Stormlord example. He also has the Destruction domain. He is a Cleric5/Stormlord 3 with Casterlevel 8. But his destruction domain ability only gives him a +5 (his cleric level) on damage rolls (and the standard +4 on attack) and not a +8 damage bonus.

Same thing happens with the Travel Domain in the examples of the Contemplative and the Seeker of the Misty Isle. One adds, one not.

So, is a clerics domain ability only based on his cleric level or are there other things that add to that, like Prestige classes etc?

I cant say for certain, but i'd say that cleric levels and Prestige class based on the cleric class gets the bonuses with both levels stacked.

so cleric5/stormlord5 would be level 10 in my opinion.

I was mostly curious if you added the figher levels (in one of my previous examples) to hes total casting level earlier. a Fighter 5/Cleric 5 should only get bonus of 5 to domain stuff shouldnt he ?

Correct. Fighters, druids, wizards, monks and any other class do not stack with a cleric when it comes to domain ability power.

And many prestige classes do not, either. A Divine Champion or a Dwarven Defender would not do.

I'd say, too, that a Prestige Class based on a Cleric's spellcasting (Hierophant, Warpriest, Divine Disciple, Sacred Fist etc) would stack. But only the levels that also adds to your caster level. Just my thoughts.
But these examples are confusing me.

Yeah I'd say that if it gave you the additonal caster levels for the correct kind of magic (In your case divine) then yes, those prestige classes stack with the overall caster level for your Strength and Destruction domains
