I have already played through IWD2 a few times with different characters. I thought I would try out some of the features of the cheat console for a change so I enabled it in the configuration. When I enter the code to create an item, instead of producing the item I get the message "Nice try cheater!" in the main console. I verified that I was typing the code correctly and I get this message regardless of which item I try to create.

I recently had to re-install IWD2 and I have some of the mods installed as well. Could one of them be interfering with the cheat console? If not, what could be the problem?

Unlike previous IE games, IWD2's cheat console can be enabled directly thru the IWD2 config program. There's a checkbox somewhere in the options you'll see when you run the config program.

The "Enable Cheat Console" box is checked in the configuration utility, but I still get the "Nice try cheater!" message when I attempt to create an item.

What exactly did you write in the console?

Well I figured out what I was doing wrong. Thanks to Razfallow's question I re-examined the command I was typing into the console. It turns out I had been abbreviating "delete" and typing "ctrlaltdel" instead of the required "ctrlaltdelete". Once I corrected that I was able to create items. Now I can finally have a look at some of those items I never encountered in the game.
