    I started a new game yesterday and since I didn't want any of the NPC´s in Irenicus' dungeon I decided to solo chapter 1 (I'm playing as a Wizard Slayer)

    Ok, I've finished exploring the dungeon and have reached the surface. I then decide to go and test my newly gained XP by fighting the dwarf and his followers in the inn in Waukeens Promenade (I was playing on the easy difficulty) All went well most of them got effected by my innate fear ability and I just had to take them down one by one. But that little Pookey cast a charm spell on my WS and the game acted as if I was dead :eek: :mad:

    So I wondered if this a is a bug that can be fixed??

    Nope, that's the way it works. If you're soloing any spell which temporarily makes you lose control of your character means game over.

    WTF? seriously? That really sucks. I never considered soloing, but now I'm not going to for sure.

    I've gone solo with a Wizard Slayer many times, a good item to look for is a Helm of Charm Protection.

    @Takara
    As you can imagine soloing teaches you well how to protect against all those annoying spells like hold, charm, horror, maze etc.
    It's really quite interesting.

    It also teaches you just as well how potent Enchantment Spells can be, and that wizards are not all about spellflinging evocations.
    The irony is that though this is supposed to be more apparent in a party, its only when your lvl 20+ solo character gets mazed/charmed/dominated, or gets confused/held that you start to wonder whether the last fireball you memorized was really worth it.
    Having observed all this I later soloed a dagger dual-wielding Enchanter(for the sake of roleplaying) later, and it was my best solo before I started my first Blade.

    On the upside, Confusion and Fear effects don't seem to kill you.
    Just the ones that actually give the enemy control of you, and Maze/Imprison types.

    Makes that halfling mage in the Sphere much more difficult to overcome...

    As I said earlier... "all glory to Spell Immunity!" A Wizard Slayer should be able to get through by picking up Lilarcor as early as possible, but I agree, that has to be frustrating, and something I will watch for when I start soloing.

    Here are a few enemies that have been the bane of many a soloing character in the early part of the game:
    Hold Person from the crazy Cleric (in the streets in the Docks District) and from humanoid Shamans. Hold Person is not game over, but you will get clobbered to death because of the long duration.

    Vampires casting their domination/charm (I forgot which it is).

    There are several trapped containers that cast maze (or is it imprisonment, again I've forgotten), most notably the one holding the Horn of Valhalla.
