I'm starting a new SoA-ToB game, and have a problem.
I just cant decide what character I shall be!
So you get to decide, cause I cant. I have some few requests, I want him to ba a male, and human.
If you would care to name some good proficienses to the character you choose, it would be gladly accepted.
    Thanks in advance fellows!

    [IMG] Hi.
Well, the most fun character that I've ever played would be the Paladin (Undead Hunter).
They can get great items, like Carsomyr and the red dragon scale armour (But many classes can get the red dragon scale armour!).
They are great as leaders because of their high charisma and wisdom, and the fact that they are great fighters.
Plus, if ye play an Undead Hunter, you can let him stand and take care of vampires and similar beasts that can use "spells" like Level Drain, since the Undead Hunter can't be affected by it.

So, put yer weapon proficienses in two handed swords and in two-handed weapons, so that you can use the carsomyr with maximum effect.
You should put yer abilitypoints somewhat like this:
    Strength: 16-18
    Dexterity: 15-18
    Constitution: 18
Intelligence: 11-15 (or perhaps more :p)
    Wisdom: 16-18
    Charisma: 17-18

Errr... You might have to roll the dices a few time's until you get these kinds of scores, but it should be possible :D

    Good luck!

You "might" have to role the dice for a while? You WILL have to.

Here is my favorite character. It's a paladin also but he is going to be a Cavaleir. He is good at killing demons and dragons. He has some good resistances and imunities too. They are to fire, cold, and acid I think.

His stats would be something like this.

    Str 16-18

    Dex 16-18

    Con 15-17

    Int 16 or less

    Wis 15-17

    Cha 18

    As for the weapons.

    ** in two handed style

    ** in two handed sword

    ** in halberd

Then give him a good helm, good armor and some other junk and you won't even need a party because he'll be so good.

Heh, I know what you mean. I can spend hours just pondering what class I want to play. Hmm, you ever try a straight mage? Invokers are fun. Here, let me give you a little list:

Fighter- Best kit here is probably the Kensai, a total madman with swords, and as all of you know, his AC problems aren't that bad as long as he has a few rings, cloaks, ect. If you're bored dual class him to a mage at level 9 or 12.

Ranger- Try a Stalker, they are very fun and versatile, you can backstab, you have limited spell casting abilities, a bonus to stealth, and you get all of the extra ranger abilities like Racial Enemy and bonuses when dual wielding. Only drawback is the leather armor restrition, but you can find plenty of leather protection during the course of the game. Best in SoA is the Shadow Dragon Scale, which has AC of 1, as good as full plate mail. Besides, leather looks cooler than Plate anyway ;).

Paladin- Um, on second thought, this class is a little boring. Only fun if you DON'T use the Holy Avenger, so it's more balanced. That sword is WAY overpowered. For fun try an Inquisitor with proficencies in Long Swords, Bastard Swords, and Shield style.

Druid- One word: Avenger. AWSOME class, extra spells and shapeshifting abilities make this class very neat, and fill in the holes in the Druid's spell repitoire. Disadvatages aren't that big, best leather armor isn't studded so that's not a very big one. The penalties aren't either, since no non-warrior needs more than 16 con anyway. If you really hate the lack of strength there are plenty of items which increase it. Early on in the game hide armor is very good, since it's AC 6 and you can wear protection rings with it. The Spider Shape Shift is really good too.

Thief- Assassin, the posion is great, as is the max x7 backstab modifer. If you're not planning on dual classing him, take an elf or halfing for the extra thief skill bonuses. I dual classed my Assassin to a Mage at level 13 so he got a x5 backstab, and more than enough theif skills.

Bard- Blades sound like fun, but I've never played a bard. Read Black Rose's Blade solo post for more info.

Cleric- Any kit is good here, though I personally like the Priest of Helm the most.

Mage- Invoker, very fun to play.

Fighter/Mage/Theif- good class cabable of doing most anything by himself.

Fighter/Mage- My favorite class, he's a better tank than a normal fighter with stoneskin, mirror image, ect, and if you want armor, you can still wear elven chain. I'd take an elf, but that's just me.

Fighter/Druid- Can wear any armor, try having him dual wield Scimitars for extra fun.

Ranger/Cleric- Gets both Druidic and Clerical spells, but I think the Druidic ones only go up to level 3. Can wear any armor, can hide in shadows, can turn undead, very powerful. If you dual class a Ranger at level 9 you can still reach 20 as a cleric.

Sorcerer- More limited than a regular mage, you won't get as many spells but you will be able to cast more, and have the advantage of being able to cast ANY spell you know at ANY time. Look up Roman Gregoriev's Sorcerer Faq for more details.

Barbarian- Good for newbies, you can't wear as good armor, but you can live with that. I like elves or half-elfs since they look better in chainmail than humans/half-orcs do.

Monk- Very powerful, but also very boring. Weak at lower levels but you'll see him really shine later on.

Well, that just about does it for me. Be sure to look up Dan Simpsons class faq, it's very indepth. If you can't find it at SP, then go to www.gamefaqs.com and do a search for "Baldur's Gate II".

There are many more that I like but I can't list them all here.

There is a good class FAQ here in the BG2 section.

  6. Lord Sarevok Guest

Probably the same one I'm talking about. I just wanted to give him a sure link, since I don't have one for it here on SP.

[IMG] Oh, thanks for correcting my incorrection due to your incorrect correction :). Anyway, like I said it's a great FAQ although I must admit that only a powergamer would analyze the classes that much :). But deep inside everyone of us the roleplayer is crying out in agony, so it's cool :).

They are? Then there are either 2 on this site or two there. Hmmm, I think I'll check.

    2 minutes later

Ok, SP and Gamefaqs have the same two faqs. The bigger one I was talking about is called the class FAQ and it is in the FAQs part of the BG2 section.

The smaller one is called the character guide and that is in the hints and tips part of the BG2 section. The reason I was wrong was because I found the small one first and figured that if there was another one it would be in the same section as the one I found so I didn't notice the bigger one.

So get it from this site because you can't download it from gamefaqs, I don't think so anyway.

So I'm sorry for the wrong information, but I was confused.

Ok, having read all the faq's, I've decided to go for an elven stalker, with:
    *** in scimitar
    ** in short bow
    * in longsword
and of course the ** in two weapon style

    Is this a good char?

    Thanks for all the suggestions!

[IMG] Yep, except your stalker, being a ranger, cant have three slots in a weapon proficiency. Put the leftover star in long sword or dual wielding and you should have a very good, versatile character. Have fun.

How do you get that solo blade thingy?

Er... What do you mean? A Blade is a Bard kit and solo means having nobody else in your party, so create a Blade character and go it alone...

Erm, I'm not talking to you, Blackthorne

Yes, stalkers are a very good class to play, have fun. By the way, did you pick Scimitars for Belm +2? This is fast becoming my favorite sword hehe.

Yes, Lord Sarevok, I chose scimitars because of Belm, Rashad's Talon and Spectral Brand.

But I changed the ** in longsword to ** in axe, in case I fight some creatures that doesnt take damage of slashing-weapons.

I thought that axes did slashing damage. Am I wrong?

No, joaquin, you are correct. They are slashing-weapons.
    My mistake.

  20. Black Rose Guest

    Blade = F/M/T.

Spins and Spells bay-bee. My first soloist and so far so good.

Next time through, I'll probably solo a Avenger or Fighter/Druid multiclass.
