Cernd became hostile when I defeated Faldorn.

[IMG] OK I was fighting Improved Faldorn with my spiffy Chorister. Now that fight is absolutely hard. I had my equipment handled to me by Jaheira when fighting in the pit (hey it is really unfair to fight such a monster like Improved Faldorn with only a simple quarterstaff.) OK, I also had gulped potions of defense and absorption (I think her feline form still uses Staff of Thunder and Lightning) so she could barely hit me.

I was also hasted so I avoided her easily, casted a Protection from MW by a scroll to win 4 valuable rounds. I unleashed THREE skull traps which killed her summons and injured her greatly. Then I released a Glitterdust, she blowed her save vs spells, and was blinded; nice, additional 4 rounds of free action without threat since she could not see me when I was far away enough.

I used my Tugian Bow and Flaming Arrows; she had Pyschial Mirror but flaming arrows are not counted as missiles and are not turned back, I hit and hit and hit (with a lot of attacks per roun) and was able to dispel her Ironskins, but I had to flee as she was no longer blind.

Then I grasped my wand of summoning and summoned A HORDE of critters to block her; she hit me a few times and I made my saves to avoid being stunned to death; she avoided my summons and always aimed for me BUT with smart movement I trapped her into a corner when she was surrounded with my summoned monsters, she was trapped as she could not reach me and did not target summons. Dumb.

I quickly hit her with arrows, and her spell protection (I don't know what it is but it absorbs any spell directly casted on her, Shield Of Archons?) was gone, I released Magic Missiles to bring her down to Near Death and a single critical hit from my bow KILLED her! Wow!

Ofcourse this was not as simple as I wrote. I had to fight and die quite a few times till I found the right tactics. :good:

Anyway, as I was teleported outside of the arena, Cernd was there. Normally he congratulates me and asks to join the party IIRC. This time game auto-paused:Enemy Sighted. WTH! Cernd had a nasty red circle and he was hostile!

WHY? What have I done? Was he pissed off as I had kinda cheated in the duel by getting my items?

I CTRL+Yed him in my excitement, I had no desire to load and make that extremely hard battle again, and I did not know if it would work.

What was the cause of this bug? Now that I CTRL+Yed him he is 'truly' dead and won't be able to show up in ToB, right? Fate Spirit won't be able to reach him.

BLEAH, I don't need him but it makes me feel kinda sad. I should have CTRL+Qed him to party and dump out but I could not think it in my excitement and suprise.

Sorry Cernd. Really, it was not personal.

Do you know the cause of such a bug? I have done nothing wrong, everything was as it was supposed to be for a good aligned PC.

After Cernd's untimely death, everything was normal, I challenged a pathetic druid for Great Druid status. (I have multiple strongholds component) and even got the first Druid stronghold quest and finished it.

Still I am kinda counfused and sad for Cernd. Can I create a new Cernd via CLUA? Will he still be enemy? Will he be available and well in ToB if I CTRL+Q him and dump later? Just asking out of curiosity, I don't want him in my party but I did not want him end up being dead. Any help or light on this mystery would be appreciated...

The thing that caught my eye was:
Perhaps he or another druid was just a tiny bit too close to the arena?

^Err, can this really happen? I did not know Cernd was waiting near the arena, I think he just spawns there when Faldorn is killed. But you are the BG2 encyclopedia so...do you know a code to revive Cernd without hostilities? Or is he gone for good? (good riddance)

Cernd does spawn near the throne after Faldorn is defeated (in a normal game). He should be reachable with the Fate Spirit, even if you killed him.

Well, you could just CLUA Cernd back in. He might end up hostile again, but there might be something I can do for that if it's the case. I'll have to search his personal scripts and the area script. For the moment, just try bringing him back with this code:
    CLUAConsole:CreateCreature("cernd10")
The level can be adjusted by adjusting the number. 10, 12, 13, and 13b are all acceptable choices.

    @ Silverstar

Did you talk to Cernd before enter the temple? You should enter the temple together.Even if you ask him to fight Faldorn himself, then you will have the option to fight her with your PC.

Also I don't think Cernd turned hostile because got hit by your spells.I am quite sure that spells casted out from the arena cannot affect anyone inside it and vice versa...
And IIRC any NPC who was dead during SoA,even permanently, can be brought back with the Fate spirit (except from Yoshimo).

Ofcourse I had talked with Cernd before entering the Grove, I did not want to have him in my party so he decided to wait outside for the dawn to come. Everything was the same as what I had done before. This is a bug then? Due to my mod conflicts? Arrh.

Hey I did not know that Fate Spirit could bring back permanently dead NPCs. It said Yoshimo was forever dead and out of its reach. So, say, a NPC is disintegrated in SoA, can Fate Spirit return him/her in ToB?

If Cernd returns via Fate Spirit, will he be still hostile or at least have something interesting to say?

You mean the arrows of Fire ? I didn't know that.

Also a good way to beat Faldorn without equipment, would be to fight her in Chapter 6.

Before the battle drink potions of Mind Focusing,Defense,Absorption, cast Regeneration from a cleric if possible and then cast with the other buffs (stoneskin,m.image): Protection from Magic Energy + Improved Haste.

When the fight begins turn into the Slayer.
I am quite sure that you will kill her before the Slayer change kills you ;)

Yes I discovered this neat trick, Arrows of Fire can not be turned by Pyschical Mirror of hers, for some reason so they are good against her.

I know I could beat her easily after chapter 6 but I wanted a challenge, but not an impossible battle, without items that fight is NOT fair in any way!

You can't bring back Yoshimo because he was killed off permanently by Irenicus' Geas. And the devs did'nt want him to be brought back.
