can't reinstall

    Remove all ads!
    [​IMG] I keep getting the "play" option when I put the cd in, but nothing happens when I hit play. If I try to uninstall, there is a brief flash of the uninstall shield, then I go back to my desktop. I think it might be something in the registry, but I don't know where to look to clean it out. Please help.

    If you have WIN XP go to your control panel and click on the add/remove programs. Try uninstalling from there.

    First, go to Add/Remove Programs as stated above and remove SoA and, if you have it, ToB. Then, delete the folder where they were installed. After that, go to your Start menu and click on Run. Type "regedit" without the quotes and hit [Enter]. Within the registry, do a find for "Baldur," (again without the quoteS) and if it's clearly not the original BG1 or TotSC, delete it. Then restart your computer, and try reinstalling.

    Worked for me when I was unable to reinstall. Hope it works for you, too.

    Just do it the easy way... Go to "This computer" (or whatever), right click on the CD unit ( D: or E: or something) and click "open" or "browse". Then just find the "setup" ikon and double click it, and you can reinstall the game.

    This happened to me too. It got to the point where what Bahir said wouldn't work for me. Apparently, the computer's registry thinks it is still installed. If Bahir's fix doesn't work, take your computer to a repair shop, or do this yourself if you feel comfortable, and restore your previous settings via a backup disk or something. This will wipe your computer clean. Just be sure you back up all your important files. Maybe then you can stop doing this. :bang:
