But what if your character is a girl? Do the guys start it? I hope so. It would be so hard if girls had to ask guys out! I'd be in big trouble!

Interesting in theory. In the game, it mostly got in the way...wait, that was real life...anyway, I found it a pain to be setting up for a major skirmish and Aerie wanting to reflect on our life together! Please. My wife watched over my shoulder a few times and giggled when in-game relationships came in to play. Definitely an aspect that is difficult at best to do on a computer in a game.

Instead of in real life the girls take the initiative. So the only thing you have to do is to pick up the chick you want most.

I have tried going through with a female player. I had to restart. The thought of sleeping with anomen was causing me to vomit.

AFAIK With the expansion, Throne of Bhaal, you can also have a romance with Haer-Dalis, but that may be wrong.

You can choose for non of the 2 or one of them but not for both of them. Maybe in ToB you can choose for one of them and getting a real relationship.......

Hmmz, can you as female also start a relationship with Sarevok in ToB? :p

In my experience that's how it is in real life too. You just have to put the bait on the hook to make the fish bite. If the bait looks tasty to the brave fish it will jump on it. ;)

Same thing goes for girls, Serora! If you want to catch a fish the least you have to do is get your bait into the "water". And have patience. :)

Haer's romance was initially intended for BG2, but they never finished it so it was taken out of the game. And there are no new romances in ToB either, so no.

Does romance have anything to do with your alignment?

no. But the person you're romancing might leave if your rep is too different from their alignment.

Translation: If good, Vicy will probably leave if you don't hit the occasional peasant. If bad, Aerie will leave if you DO hit the occasional peasant. Jaheira doesn't care. and I don't know about anomen. Never used him

Statment from the Alliance of the undersized:

The romance aspect of the game was a feature included in order to discriminate against our dwarven and gnomish bretheren, and perpetuate the myth that humans and elves are inherently superior to us. This is an entire aspect of the game which was denied to those of restricted growth, and furthermore bore the subtext that we are so ugly, obnoxious and generally inferior when compared to our longlimbed "masters" that we are doomed to live lives of enforced celibacy and eventually face the extinction of our races (dwarf and gnome) through lack of children. However, certain bretheren report that halflings benifit in the romance aspect, which can surely be taken as a sign of progress for the siginficant vertically disadvantaged group in Amnish society.
