You can import your Baldur's Gate character. You will lose all your equipment cause your locked up. Some of it you'll find somewhere I think.

What is the fun to play with stats all on 25?

Stats will remain the same and your experience will be dropped to match the starting level of BG2.

All items will be scattered in the game, which you can find later on in your travels.

The starting experience for BG2 differs, because characters from Totsc start with higher starting experience then characters from BG.

Or am I totally wrong now?

Yes you are right. Normal characters will start with 89,000 exp. but TotSC characters will have 161,000 exp.

I have to complain about that as well. You should AT LEAST beat the game regularly first before you start cheating. I pesonally did have a character with 20 str, 20 dex, 20 int, 15 wis, and 18 cha after I played through BG1 about 3 times with the same character. I still didn't use him when I started BG2 though because it wouldn't have been any fun.

    On another note...
Sylvus: I thought you only got a few selected items back if you had them in BG1 and imported you char. Do you really get all of them back?

I figured you'd get them all back. I can't say I know for sure because I never imported.

    [IMG] I did.
And you don't get jack back.
I found some pretty good items thus far, but I'm guessing they are all from BG2 and placed there intentionally.
You don't get anything back in the starting dungeon, as they said would happen. Pretty lame.

That's what I thought because after I beat it, I imported a char from BG1 and beat it. I didn't think anything of it. I totally forgot that they said you would get some stuff back. I didn't get anything back either.

[IMG] I defeated the last boss and played through the whole game 4 times before getting TotSC and defeated that demon thing before changing my characters stats in any way.

That's fine, just don't import it into BG2 and use it throughout, unless you have done the same with BG2.

You do get the Helm of Balduran back as well as the bastard sword +4 v. shapeshifters.

That being said, I don't think many of us would get very far with just the stuff we had in the original.

I haven't gotten squat back, but I didn't import the sword +1, +4 vs shapeshifters. I got it early in the game anyway, though.

Look, I personally think that everyone on this board(myself included in the past) is way to judgemental and high and mighty. Lets not forget that this guy paid good money for this game. He spent his money, let him play it however he likes. I don't agree with it, I wouldn't do it, but that's me. Not him. By shelling out 50+ bucks for his own four bg2 disks, he has the right to play it however he wants. If soemone wants to buy the next game for him, feel free to tell him how he should enjoy it then.

Please note: insert soapbox comment wherever you wish.

I totally agree with you, but I think you misunderstand me. I'm just saying that you don't get my personal respect if you cheat first. If my personal respect isn't worth jack to you, (which it probably isn't) you can do whatever you like with the game.

Helm of Balduran isn't imported, it's put there for everyone. It's there no matter whether you import or not. Same goes for that sword and all other stuff from BG1.
I didn't even have half of those items on my exported char so you see it'd be a bit weird if I got them. :)

So again, you get zip, zero, nada, nothing. I remember all the fuss regarding this when the game was still in development and all Bioware's constant reassurances that "you'll be able to find most of your items in the starting dungeon, or very quickly when you get out". I think it even states that in the FAQ.

CRAP and LIES! Strangely enough, I don't hear anyone talking about it. I guess everyone must've created new characters to play with in BG2, so few noticed. *shrug*

Nah, I imported my Ranger and made him an Archer, but to be honest there's so much (some would say too much) stuff that's better in BG2 that I didn't care.

Sure, but if I could get at least some of it back at the beginning I wouldn't feel so lame about probably two hours I spent when making my char for export... Putting all of the best items there, filling every single hole in the inventory, etc.
You don't even get your damn spells you wrote in the spellbook. Start from scratch as if you hadn't imported at all.

Yeah, did I really feel stupid in BG1. (BTW I created a really lousy character in BG1 and played through the whole game). Any way, I created a new character after I completed BG1 to my liking, and during the game up to the end of chap 6 when I exported them all, I saved all my tomes, good weapons and armor(for me and other characters), and I had a complete group of almost every spell scroll. So before I started BG2 I built a character that I wanted, memorized all the spells, and imported with the best stuff. So not only was my time wasted on spells and stuff, but my multi classed fighter/mage was sucking so bad in chapter 2, I had to get rid of him. Ah, so many hours of fun :).

But to everyone else(especially Vile since he noticed), sorry about that rant(even though I do believe it). Had a long day. You are right as it is more satisfying not to use, shall we call them, questionable tactics. But it is his game, so if that's your opinion, say so constuctively; just don't blaze other people like Deano99.

The shapeshifter bastard sword is an item you get after doing the slavers quest in the slums district in athkatla.
