[IMG] I had two problems while playing BG2.

The first was when installing, it kept asking for CDs 2 to 5.

The second was when I was in the mimic cave and the whole game just exited to windows.

Any clue as to what happened, especially for the second problem?

    Thanks!

I never attributed the crash to Norton Anti-virus even though I read the faq, I thought it was because of an error in the installation and critical files were missing.

Hm.....but wait, I had problems installing the Recommended (the CD 5 problem), and had to use the Minimum install.

Then I played for the first time for what 5 hours straight?

And only then in the mimic cave did the game exit to windows and quit (after hanging for a bit).

Could it still be the anti-virus program?

[IMG] I know I was having problems running it and switched off all my backgroud processes.
After that it ran fine so it could be the virus checker.

Derah had this to say when I posted the fault here :
"Virus checker is a known problem with all video cards and BG2.Interplay also has posted a known bug FAQ. http://webboard.interplay.com:8080/~bgate"

  5. About half of the time, switching cd's (when prompted) causes me to get dumped back to Windows. When I bring up the task list, it had BGII listed as "not responding". I usually restart the game (and sometimes reboot). Thank god for autosave!!!!!

I don't have Norton or any other virus checker installed.

[IMG] Try doing the big install, then you don't need to change cd's.
