I browsed old topics but couldn't find one that deals with this: has anyone else experienced strange behavior of NPCs when you hide in shadows?

    1) They initiate dialogue while they are not supposed to see you. Then, if they are evil, they become evil and cast their defensive spells but can't see you in order to attack you.
    2) When there is no dialogue, some like Sirenes cast their defensive spells. So you just wait till it wears off.
    3) When your thief, hided, is near them, a lot of monsters don't react when the rest come closer and start shooting arrows. They just let you slaughter them without even noticing.
Of course it could seem useful, but I rather think it wastes the game! Has it been fixed by a patch?

I can't speak as to the other two, but I think it says something in the readme file about NPCs iniating dialogue with invisible or hidden characters in order to advance the story.
