I noticed this when I was playing through with a Paladin of Mystra/Diviner.

Basically, after getting the ability to cast Paladin spells (at lvl 6 IIRC), I could suddenly scribe and cast Conjuration spells like Flame Arrow and Summon Monster XX.

This is definitely a bug, right? But if so...it can seriously be exploited by all those wizards out there...

This is known bug. Every other spellcasting class (with gained spellcasting ability - e.g. proper minimal level) allows to learn and cast spells from prohibited schools.

How about that? I had no idea you could do that.

Nice...gotta find a scroll for Wail of the Banshee!

One doesn't even need to be eligible to cast spells in the other class for this to work.. Just a single level of Paladin is enough. I've also tried a level in Dreadmaster and Sorcerer, and they both worked similarly.

However, Ranger doesn't seem to work.

Specialists will get their opposition school spells as soon as another spell category appears on your spell list. Since paladins get the spell listed under the spell screen at L1, 1 level of paladin is sufficient. Rangers don't get the icon until they actually learn L1 spells, which means they need more levels than just 1.
