[IMG] I just finished the 'escort' mission and got the boots of blinding speed as a reward, however everytime I try on these boots, the screen turns black.

I exceed all the required Morrowind stats and even turned some of the graphics down, but nothing helps. I should also mention that I have all the expansion packs.

    Your help is apreciated.

That's the point of the boots. Note the word "Blinding".

If you have something that lets you resist magicka, you can get past the curse of the boots.

They are, literally, boots of blinding speed. You put them on, you walk really fast and are blind. Try equipping items with Night Eye (Illurock the spear works well) or 100% Dispel.

Thanks, I thought it was a strange bug!

Edit: A new problem. I have menues that have 'vanished'. The booklet instructs one on how to remove menues such as the magic, stats etc, but not how to make them reappear.

    Nevermind I found it ;)

Hey, if you are unhappy about your reward, head into town (the one where you dropped her off) and ask about her for an extra plot twist. :)

look the perfect thing for the boots is the Cuirass of the Saviors Hide. Go to Tel Fyr, find a hole in the roof and levitate up, you will find a dresser with a lock level of 100. open it and you will get the armor.
Resist magika it totally ignores the blind part of the boots and you can see better than you could before.

It IS a bug, noone ever bothered to fix it though. Even if your screen doesn't turn entirely black, you can't see your own feet. That's why i never bothered with those boots, i went the the boots of the apostle.

Pac man, your resist magicka must just not be high enough if you can barely see a thing, because it really isn't a bug, that's how blind works in MW. The higher resist magicka is, the better you'll see.

Ok, get 100 resist magicka with spells/potions etc (make a spell with 100 resist 1 sec , or 2 spells with 50, new name for every spell ) then put the boots on and never take them off again you will not be blind even after the spell/potions expire , then get a ring enchanted with constant effect 1 point levitate and never put a foot an land again , even with 1 point levitate you will fly really fast :)

Won't the game crash to desktop all the time if you move that fast? Unless maybe you have some very fast computer. I can crash mine by just holding the forward button on open land.

Just got these boots a couple days ago, and I don't know how anyone can say it's a bug. Pemenie is so ridiculously transparent that when she speaks highly of the boots, you've got to know something's wrong with them. And the Blind effect is listed on the boots. Not to mention that the menus work perfectly well with them on, so you can go back into the inventory to take them off or look at them to see WTF is going on. Having read this, I was expecting to have to reload to get them back off.

Heck, you could even move by the minimap (still there), taking the boots off when you get attacked. Hmm... You know, I think I will take them along for those long journeys on foot, rather than just sell them off. Probably won't even get attacked because I'll be too fast for anything to catch. Which brings up the point of why Pemenie needed an escort in the first place. I suppose if you're blind you don't reveal any of the map as you cross it, so it'd only be useful for those paths you've travelled previously.

While the boots are useful early on in the game, I found that my characters moved so insanely fast by the time they reached a high enough level that I had no need of the boots. In fact, I found myself wishing my character didn't move so fast.
