What are the visitor stats? Where they come from I mean. I can see all the visitors on my website from my control panel.

The stats come from the server and the board hack gets server stats to display on a page. The scripts differ. I used to have a freeware tool on my previous site that measured quite a lot of different things about the visitors - nothing personal, but countries, systems, resolutions, browsers, popular referrers etc. But on the other hand, sometimes you just get a plain counter.

[IMG] No, no. Those visitor statistics were for the message board only, tracked by the message board. And they were only tracked since the last message board upgrade, so on the whole, they weren't accurate. I removed those figures now. What is left is accurate and valid.

Bah! That includes anyone who has registered but never posted, or only posted a few times before buggering off.

How about Average Posts per Member who has posted in the last month? Last 3 months? Last year divided by pi? Dammit, I want something meaningful!

    :p

I can't remember the number, but I'm sure that more than half of members have never posted and I think 80% have posted less than 10 times. I could verify by that by looking in the directory but it involves a fair amount of clicking to find the right place in the member list and my connection is to slow for me to have the patience today.

413 pages on the directory. Only 100 of those pages have 9 posts or more. The true spammers are on page 1.

Pretty good ideas... Yea, that would be more meaningful. I'd suggest it to the author of the stats hack, but considering UBB is dead in the water, I doubt there'd be any interest in adding it at this point.

Approx 3600 members have made 3 or more posts. So about 57% of members have made 2 or less posts.

Roughly 540 members have posted more than 100 times.

Seven members have Rogue stones. This does not include admin or mods.

I have 800 posts and I think I'm on page 9 which puts me in the top 2%.

What this bit of trivia tells me is that Tal and his mods do a good job of keeping creepy spamers off and just letting brilliant, intelligent posters (like me) on. :p

The top 20 posters (i.e. the top 0.2% of 8,342) account for 20.3% of the total post count (i.e. 78,828 out of 387,294).

Without those spammers, and pointless threads like these, SP would be a lot smaller. :)

Can't we just drop the people who have less then 5 posts who haven't posted in over a year.

I mean, send them a PM, if they don't respond, ditch them. More names for the rest of us to choose from.

If I were in charge  I would stop people from being able to view this board unless they are an SPS member or have contributed one way or another.

Jaguar - why do you need more names to choose from? Anyway, have you actually seen some of the names that have already been chosen. I don't think you'll miss not being able to use them......

Examples: Frankosity, nvhank, Matty's Magic Missle (sic), Insaindude (sic), Bludlust Wydowmaker (sic), and Chevalier.

Is it since the board was created? If yes that is really amazing a board whose first goal was to discuss AD&D games to reach this number of post. I just want to remind that their is always new post to both SOA and TOB forum. I think this mean most people *love* this game ^_^. Also I could be wrong but I think I heard somewhere on the board that the whatsnot forum was the most popular?
Anyway I wonder with my thousand and so post how far am I from the top poster?

Ofelix, you have almost exactly 10% of the posts of the top poster, who has 10,634 posts.

    10,634 posts ... and counting.
 You got that right HB

While calculating stats, another line along the lines of Active Members, ie people who have posted in the last 3 months and average posts by these members would be more realistic.
Everyone with 2000 posts and above should be clubbed under Spammers :p

I have approximately an extra blank page-length at the botttom of the front page of the boards. Any ideas why?

Have you got a new monitor lately? If you have one of those new high resolution big screen monitors, it might be too big even for SP to handle.

Some other quality names that Jaguar can't use because they've already been taken include:
    - Sir Poof a Lot
    - SkyRattlers
    - Drogo Danderfluff
    - Mick of Time
    - Darcangel Nytshaed
    - JediMastaYoda
    - Jones.
    - Splunge

I was so disappointed when I signed up and found out Drogo Danderfluff was taken :wail: :shake:
