Alright, this is really not cool. I bought the helmet from the extra merchant at the Adventurer's Mart that lets you cast similcarum once per day. I gave it to my main fighter(man did it kick ass to use similacrum on a high level fighter), and it worked fine the first couple times I used it. Now for some reason, even though it is charged, when I click on the similacrum icon in the special items slot, it does ABSOLOUTLY NOTHING. All I get for a message on the screen is Jindrak: save v/s spell, save v/s death. I've tried it several times since it quit working, and I just can't get it to work. Anyone else had a problem with this?!?

Never had this problem. Maybe, try to sell it then steal it. Maybe, it's a problem with charges... don't know.

Same here. Tried it on every NPC I could find to wear it and nothing.

    Pissed me right off!

Used SK to remove it and add back the gold I had wasted on it. hehe :D

Likewise here. I had even searched a few BG2 websites to see if other's ran into this issue some time back - I found nothing. Eventually I just did the 'quicksave' method. Hitting 'Quicksave' then trying the similcarum feature... If it didn't work I would 'QuickLoad' (custom key) and would try it again until it did work.

That became tedious and the Helmet lost any level of significance to my battles. I also found the same 'unpredictableness' with the Helmet of Death. - forcefully acquired from the imprisoned Mage in the Underdark. :)

Oh really? You mean the mage that you free with the Freedom scroll? Tell me about this Helmet of Death and how you acquired it! :)

Well I'm certainly glad to know bioware puts a very pricey item up for sale (and a cool one at that), and doesn't bother to work out the kinks with it. It's not the fact the the helmet is a necessity for me, it's just the principle of the whole thing. I hate spending money for something that seems really cool, and then getting it and feeling ripped off because it doesn't work right. Except in the game I can't take it back and get one that works. And I was personally thinking that was one of the cooler items in the game.

I think it's the stuff for sale by the "extra" merchants that didn't get a lot of testing...

There was a mace (Jerrod's Mace I think?) sold by the merchant with IWD stuff that was supposed to be +5 vs demons, but it was ineffective against every demon I tried it on...

Yes the Mage that you free and go to the Elemental gates with. You can *acquire* it by a couple of methods.

One is insisting that he 'gives you more of the treasure' until he fights you. The other method is some very quick stealing (4-6 times in a few seconds)when he reappears from the last gate.

The Helmet (actually I think a similar one can be purchased from one of the vendors... maybe after they 'restock' -cant recall) allows the 'Death Spell' to be cast up to something like up to 10 yards and several times a day. But... it doesn't even cast sometimes and wastes your character's round. Also because it doesn't offer any AC protection and the like I found it EASY to dismiss after a couple of failures of it's enchantment.

[IMG] Why don't you take the helmet back to the merchant and demand your money back. I was playing an evil party so I killed the merchant who sold me any faulty items....

Well, for one, I like selling items in the adventurer's mart, and I don't want everyone else to go hostile. Then I'd have to go through the trouble of killing a bunch of Cowled Enforcers and have Minsc disaproving of my actions. As you can see, it's an ugly cycle. Also, I still want to buy that amulet that has permanent ptotection from evil. I am going to sell the helm back(maybe-if I can bring myself to do it) for a huge loss I'm sure. Prehaps I'll steal it back, but I doubt my party can. Might buy it back as money isn't a primary concern anymore.
Speaking of which, are there any new merchants to be found during chapter six or seven that have nice items for sale. No real spoilers please. Also don't mention Ribald's secret stash as I've smoked my way through it already.

I only sell Items to a fish merchant in the under water city, I had my BAG OF HOLDINGS full of armour and other cool stuff, 6 Gem bags full of Gems, and 4 Scroll cases full of spells. I think I got about over 500 000 pieces of gold when I finished selling all my stuff off. When I get all the Items I needed from a merchant, I killed them. My evil party only have Viconia, Edwin, Korgan and me in it. With a reputation of one everyones happy. Most Items I used I are Items which are forged by that Drawf Cromwell in the Docks Area. When I got all I needed from him, I killed him. With a party of four only, my party get more experiences and level up faster. In Chapter 6 my main Charecter was a duel class 15/25 Level Assassin/Fighter while my other charecters are around level 24-25. My party gets attacked constantly by those crolwed fools every where i go, but It's good for my party because I get a lot of Exp's for killing those fools.
