    Moved from SoA forum…

There seemed to be a lot of confusion about my query on the SoA forum so I have reformatted it and am posting here, which is probably a more appropriate venue anyway.

The Level 50 experience cap remover is intriguing, but what does it do? It purports to make XP vs level advances conform to D&D standards. Since I have not played D&D in 21 years I am a bit rusty on the “standard” D&D advance table. I do understand that the level XP goals escalate.

Here is the patch description from the download section.

"This patch does several things. First it disables the experience cap allowing you to reach the higher levels. Second it modifies the class tables to match the standard AD&D rules for all classes up through level 50. A warrior for example will now gain all warrior advantages. The special abilities have also been modified to allow for the kits to get all of their level based perks"

    My questions:
    1. Does it take more XP to get to, for example let's say....level 30, for a mage under a standard ToB installation than it does with this patch installed?

    2. Has anyone whipped out a comparison of the Level vs XP tables (ToB vs modded) that they could post?

    3. What is inferred by the "A warrior for example will now gain all warrior advantages" comment?

    4. And what abilities are meant here? : "The special abilities have also been modified to allow for the kits to get all of their level based perks"

I surmise that ToB and SoA limited class abilities and modified the advance tables from D&D standards and that this mod restores them. True or not and what are the details? There is no explanatory readme with the file.

After a search of these boards my questions appear to be unanswered. There is a comment somewhere that indicates that this mod might not work at all. Would someone who knows please post an answer to my questions?

I was under the imperssion that the level 50 patch only let your spell and abilies increase to level 50, I didn't think there was one that removed a xp cap, and allowed you to get to that level. I thought in Throne of Bhaal, the level system was hardcoded into the engine, but I am probaly wrong.

The other XP cap removers just overwrite the XP cap to -1 what makes the XP almost infinite. BUT! The advancing with levels i think stays at the last one. If it took 300000Xp to gain new level, it will take 300000Xp again and again.

The LVL50 patch fixes it, and uses "normal" standards. Maybe it has effects for the spells also i dont know...
