After the release of Neverwinter Nights, BG2 still remains a favorite game of mine!

For all those considering the purchase of Neverwinter Nights:

It has wonderful eye candy for those with powerful computers.

It has great potential for remote game playing (multiplayer) experience for those who can afford broad band.

It is NOT a party game for a single player like BG2 is. You can use one henchman at a time. This henchman has a stupid AI, and you have very little control over him. I don't think you can even ask the henchman to carry things for you.

I think BG3 is soon to be released as Icewind Dale II.

  2. I think its a matter of taste. I really like NWN but BG2 is still one of my favorites.. As for Icewind Dale.. it will rock :)

They're not making a BG3 to my knowledge...
And NWN doesn't look that great for SP, but I think it was made more for MP.

I like NWN. However, I am very disappointed that parties are not available to single players and that the henchmen are of limited usefulness.

I hope that I will be gaming with friends on line soon using NWN. That alone will make it worth the $60.

Judging from the supplied information, I think Icewind Dale II will fit my tastes better.

(Of course, I know there is no Baldur's Gate III.)

[IMG] Actually, BG3 is in the making at Interplay, not BioWare. And yes, that's all that's known about it (that it's being made or planned on being made), nothing else. It could be years before it's released.

[IMG] I like NWN better, I dont really care if I have a party or not, many people solo, I think more people have parties, but I like the new flavor, time for something new, IWD, BG, BG2 all have so much in common and I think something new every once in a while may be a good thing. I still love the other games but NWN gives some nice features, and remember, every game has advantages and disadvantages, the games before NWN was just way to easy. time for something new....

[IMG] i agree with Trillex on this one, Icewind Dale WILL rock. the pure flexibility of the gameplay will be suffice for me, you dont need fancy graphics just to sway me.

I thought Icewind Dale sucked. Far too restricted storyline (go this way, now that way), and after the first time through I just couldn't touch the game. But even BG2 will be forgotten after you've played it many times through and the graphics in new games advance.

I for one will probably still play BG2 after I get NWN. Although that might be a long time considering I need a new computer first.. and the money to buy the game.

[IMG] I have read that there are rumours that they will be creating a Baldurs Gate 3, using the good old infinity engine, I'll be on the look out for more information...

[IMG] Having got a taste of NWN that still hasn't dampened my enthusiasm for IWD-2. NWN is nice, and with a good graphics card and adequate RAM it even runs smooth on the puny 650 MHz of mine. One thing is great in NWN: Your stats like int, chr and *social* abilities now have real consequences in interaction, giving the game a much greater roleplaying depth than I have discovered before in a game :)

However, I miss the versatility of BG/ BG-2's and IWD's party comosition - you were able to cover all areas necessary with a well composed party. In NWN however you rely on silly henchmen with a ... uhm ... AI and I definitely miss the full control and versatility my parties had in the IE games.

NWN has quite some potential as a multiplayer game though - eventually it was designed as one - there the henchmen will not be the problem, since they will be replaced by other players who you cannot control eithr :D

    I'm sure IWD-2 will rock ... as for a BG-3 .... WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
