BG, why not re-create it?

Ok, Baldur´s Gate was a great game when it was first published, but I´m sure the BGteam could make it a whole lot better by re-creating it. New rules, items, monsters, quests and, of course; higher res, better graphics, sounds and new romances. Heh, they could even publish a romance update to BG2 with the game! :)

My questions is; would it be a good idea? Would people buy it -even those that own the current one? I would, if the above were true...

At least I like Baldur's Gate because it is the way it is. I doubt I would have bought an updated version.

No, I don't think anyone would buy it.
If the plot and the quests are the same, then what is the point in buying it? Good graphics and better sound are nice extras, but they don't make the game.

Nope, then you would make one of the biggest mistakes in gameworld (check Dune 2000, and it would be an insult to the original)

Just let the game in it´s value (Translation from a Dutch saying)

I would buy it, but only because I need to borrow BG from my friend every time I want to play it.

[IMG] If you ment updating rules to 3rd ed rules, then I'd admit I'd like to try it out but i must agree with the others. I doubt it would sell anywhere near as it did with the original.

Saying that, maybe Baldur's Gate III will come out with 3rd ed rules? Who knows? Both games sold well enough to warrant a sequel.

Yes; by new rules I meant the current ones(3rd, or latter, when it comes). Most of you guys must have noticed, that the plot, from BG to BG2, isn´t flawless. For example(minor point); could you imagine that one of the hooded figures, in the last movie scene, could be Yuga-Shura? :p

By re-creating the game they could also renew the plot; bring new aspects to it and otherwise alter, or even change, it. On the whole: I still think it could be a good idea. But I must admit that it would not be a easy job, and it would be financially risky...But I´m still hoping for it.

    Opinions are still welcome!
