[IMG] I see that people have posted about different MMRPG (Massively Multiplayer Role Playing Games for the uninitiated or MMORPG for "online"), but this thread is for a little compare & contrast action.

I'm looking at getting one of the MMRPG's currently available, but I'd like to know what SP'ers have experienced. So post your input here.

Is Asheron's Call any good? Anarchy Online? What rules do they follow? Graphics? Interface? All of these things and more are relevant.

years ago I played the Asheron's Call Beta, and it was alot of fun, frantic thought, people were running all over the place, it was like New York City busy.

    the graphics were extremely mediocre.

There's a cool feature where you band up with a group of other people and go adventuring, and you all share experience points while you're together. There's certain dungeons that you can only go into if your below a certain level which allows the newbies to get started without the high level guys stealing all the kills.

I would have even signed up if I didn't think shelling out 50$ for the game and then 10$ a month was a total ripoff.

Ok, after doing some research I'm looking specifically for comments on:

    Dark Age of Camelot
    Asheron's Call
    Anarchy Online
    Everquest

I've played EQ and AC, in that order respectively. More accurately, I went from EQ to AC to EQ.

It's hard to descripe my reasoning for this now, 2 years later. I remember hating AC's magic system(I play mages, but upgrading from Fireball III to Fireball IV doesn't fill me with a sense of accomplishment.)

In the end, the entire environment of EQ addicted me. AC just couldn't get it's teeth in.

DAoC is a 2nd gen EQ. Not sure how it stacks up, but it seemed nearly identical when I checked it out, but with nation PvP. Both tend towards carebear gaming, with lots of strict controls on PKing.

    EDIT
Forgot Anarchy. I have heard some, but not much, about it. What seems to be the predominant issues with it is that it was shipped with maybe half of its promised features included. If you buy it and get lucky, these features will follow soon as a free patch. Unlucky and you wait a loooong time and have to buy an expansion.

[IMG] I've only played Ultima Online for about a month. I had a terrible connection at the time and I recall walking into a dungeon with five beholders to find to my delight the disconnect screen. This ment instant unseen death for my character since when you leave the serve your character still remains active for five minutes before logging out. :/
