With a PbP campaign of mine just drawing to a close, I'm looking at getting another long term one starting up and wondering if anyone here is interested.

I stumbled across BESM a short while ago, and really love the look of it. Big Eyes, Small Mouth is a multi-genre RPG, inspired by the dynamic characters and stories found in Japanese animation. It uses d6, and a variation of the Tri-Stat ruleset.

What I am after, is about 8 players, from here and elsewhere, who are interested in playing. The only details I can give about the campaign is that it will be Roleplay intensive, and I am looking for people who are willing to work with detailed characters.

The exact setting, I am wanting the players to decide. A few options though are (1) Sci-fi; (2) Modern; (3) Modern horror, where you play the monster; (4) Superhero; (5) Fantasy. So more or less, I'm happy to run what ever sort of game people are after (to a certain extent), and really want the players to decide, so they can get the greatest enjoyment out of it.

Anyway, let me know if you are interested at all. I'm aiming at begining in the new year, and posting at least three times a week, the the occasional chat sessions been optional.

Got the setting locked in. Players are a group of mercs, living in a sort of victorian steampunk world, working for who ever pays the highest. Short description of the setting below.

As far back as records go, humans have been afraid of what lies below them. Below lies destruction, illness and danger. Nothing anyone would want. So we did what any intelligent creature would do – we evolved and took to the air. With energy provided from the tetra-lithium crystal, we moved not only our lives, but our whole world into the skies. Even our cities have taken to the air – vast cities, containing millions sour through the air. We live on what the sky provides – our food, grown in giant greenhouses in the cities; our water harvested from the clouds; and our energy…

Well, legends recorded in books, alongside dragons and aliens, talk of a day when everything in life involved the use of techs. Ships could fly without tetra-lithium, great libraries could be stored inside a small card, and light could be generated simply through power flowing through wire cables. But these are no more than stories – myths told to young kids.

The truth is much more believable: Our great libraries are massive halls, filled with rows and rows of bookshelves, our light comes from burning oils, extracted from plants grown in our greenhouses, and our ships fly using the heat from tetra-lithium.

I have mentioned it numerous times now for a purpose – tetra-lithium is what we live by and die for. It controls where we go, how our population grows, who we talk to and who we declare war against. For without the valuable tetra-lithium our lives will literally come falling down around us – down to the ruined wastelands below. Every kid learns at school is that tetra-lithium is a crystal, which gives off a faint blue glow. When submerged in water, it produces massive amounts of heat, pushing steam past the great turbines which give us the gift of flight. Without it we would be just like the aliens who live on the surface below.

Now when I say aliens, I do not mean the mystical type from another planet, which exists in all manner of story books. When I say alien I refer to the illegals, people who were once human – those who have been infected by the illness below. Diagrams in our text books show human like creatures with grave mutations – some merely missing fingers, or toes, others with far more inhuman like mutations. To most of us, these aliens are savage beasts – inferior in every way. But rumors have it that some sky cities employ some of these aliens in some of their special military forces. But for most of us, these aliens remain monsters at the beast – something to be simply ignored or hunted like animals.

The surface below us is a dangerous place – other than the illnesses that drove us to the sky and the monstrous aliens, there are also other dangers that lurk there. Exiles from the sky, those who do not own their own tetra-lithium, make their homes on the ground. Some hermits, who live lone lives; others outcasts and pirates - kicked out of the civilized world for some crime or another. All in all, the ground is truely a place to shun.

So that is our life, our world. We live, we fly, and we die.
