I have beaten the game whit only 1 char First whit a Fighter/mage/thief, later on whit a Bard, and once whit a conjurer(whit this one i didn't beat Sarevok)This list is whit TOTSC included.
Have any of you done this so far?Or maybe whit a char who didn't have a bow(what I think is inpossible)If you have feel free to tell me how you managed.

I'm currently tackling DSotSC with a solo cleric/illusionist. It's darn difficult, since you only have a THACO of 18, with 1 attack per round, so you even have to run for a couple of Gnolls if you're out of spells.

But it's fun, I'm now level 5/4, and I've just cleared the mines, and freed Dynaheir...

Especially the Animate Dead I got only recently helps a lot. So I can spare Algernon's Cloack a bit :)

    :D

I've done it mith just a mage. My only problem was with protecting the dukes from the Greater Dopplegangers at Duchal Palace. Man that was annoying! It took around 10 times! I couldn't cast any area spells as they would effect the dukes! I had to fight some, and had a limit to the spells I could use! That is just plain annoying.

I prefer to play it as aparty thing, it's just sort of fitting y'know? Maybe just 'cos I really like the NPC's, although I did get as far chapter 5 with a fighter/mage on his own but I was only messing around for a laugh 'cos I was bored.

Two words: Monster Summoning. I cast it and used the wand a lot to distract Sarevok while I took pot-shots at him. But, before that, I used a few stinking clouds, and cloud kill to weaken him and kill his cronies. Duchal Palace was a pain! Anyone agree with me? Isn't Duchal Palace a pain?

darn right Fat Egg. the first time i got there i had to reload a couple of times for the same reasons you said, you really cant cast area of affect spells. one time Sarevok kept on attaking me, and i never was sent to the thieves guild to chase him down probably because i killed everybody in the room w/ a couple of fireballs.

[IMG] The dukes party bit was the reason I thought "na, I won't bother with playing this through alone". It would have been too much of a pain.

You can't weaken sarevok whit cloadkill or so he has a 100% magic resistance, don't even try to tell me that you killes him whit your sling or darts!

[IMG] You can beat him with slings and darts Nightal, Just as long as he's attacking something that isn't you all the time. That's where fireball's and cloudkill's get forgotten and the summon monsters and animate deads got memorised. It's still a pain in the arse, using just one character in that fight.

He gets damaged by magic, he just can't get knocked out by poison cloud or anything like that, but cloudkill did about 50 damage to him, poison cloud did about 10. Monsters did about 100. I did the rest.

  12. Funny, I had more problems with stuff like the Doom Gaurds and Helmed Horrors than the final battle. I think I reloaded twice because i got a noble killed. Dispell magic and Monster summoning is what I think turned the tide in my favor. Swarm the nobles with your summoned goons for a protective barrier that should last long enough for you to get medival on the minions and Serevok.
Or maybe I just got lucky...
