I never play bards so this has never occured to me before, but after reading all the hype about Ha'erdalis(sp?) I've decided to make a party with him as one of the NPCs. Im just wondering if they can backstab like a theif. This would be awesome if possible. Mislead, hide in shadows/invisibilty, and then offensive spin and backstab. Carnage

only thiefs can backstab, the exeption beeing a ranger:stalker.

bards can pick pockets, cast up too level 6 mage spells but thats about it.

bards is a good class, no doubt about it.
just need alittle work and patience :)

Bards can take the high level Assassination ability, which turns all attacks for one round into backstabs. However, I don't know whether this is of any benefit to bards (because they don't have a backstab multiplier) or whether they are gifted a multiplier in the same way that they are gifted the ability to set snares for the high level traps.

But bards dont get the assassination ability! Or do they? I dunno...I've read someplace that blades and other bards are supposed to get some Thief HLAs like spike trap, time trap etc...but I've never gotten those...only UAI and the evasion series. I have a bunch of mods installed, could it be any of those which have altered the HLAs for me? Or do bards NOT get the HLAs?

Bards do get assassinate, but as their backstab multiplier is x1, there's really no point.

They get all the thief HLAs (IIRC), plus a few of their own.
