[IMG] I am just starting the game. I have played through all of Baldurs Gate and Ice wind Dale's previous games and expansions and really like them. The 3rd Ed rules in IWD II are a taking a bit to get used to but I like the game. My problem, I have a Bard who just made 2nd Level and I can't seem to put the 2 spells I chose for him into his Memorized slots. The Book says to go to my spellbook page and left-click on the spell and that will put it into the memorized side of the page and then I can rest and it will be memorized-However, while I have the list of the 2 spells I know (Grease and Identify), Left-Clicking or Right Clicking (Or any clicking) doesn't seem to move them at all. I have the known spells on the Right side of the screen and several oval and square open compartments on the Left side where I assume the spells will move to when chosen, But I cannot seem to get that to happen. ANY HELP or details about this would be helpfull as I think I've tried it all correctly and nothing is working, so I figure I'm missing something obvious! Thanks!

I have a bard and this surprised me as well. Apparently the memorization of spells (or lack thereof) is much like a sorcerer. A bard picks spells that he will be able to cast a certain number of times a day. These advance as the bard progresses (check table in back of manual). So no more memorization each time before rest for bards.

    I like this.

Be careful what you pick too. I didn't pick identify because he gets so many skill points of which some can be allocated to Knowledge Arcana and Alchemy. Paying a 100 gp for those rare occasions when my bard can't pull through is worth the extra spell slot IMHO. Plus not too far down the road your bard will learn a song that adds +2 to skills while song is being played. Which means +2 to Knowledge Arcana and such. This has come through for me quite a few times either identifying items or trap finding or whatnot.

    Yes.

Treat a bard like a sorcerer. Every spell counts, you can only cast so many of them, and you only get a narrow list to choose from at each spell level.

So, make sure his/her spells complement your wizard and druid/cleric. Some spells you want redundant, others you do not.

Personally, I pick out my bard's first. Then work my wizard around those. At level 30, the bard can cast some *VERY* heavy firepower.
