What would the ability points look like if i where to take a bard ?

And which kind of spells does a bard use Charisma based sorcerer spells or wizard based Intelligence or Even BOTH :) please help ?

Or are bard a waste of time, and i should take another class instead ?

There's this very nifty thing called searching threads on the forum's frontpage that are about the same topic.

On that note, there's an excellent thread on bards which covers your question here.

Bards are wonderful support characters. Don't expect them to do anything as well as the other character classes, because they can't. They learn Arcane spells like a Sorcerer, but they can get Cure spells, and its always nice to have another healer in the group. They don't get the major spells like Fireball, but Invisisbility and the like are always handy. heir one unique skill, the songs, are very nice, and are meant to AID the party. Alone, bards die. With a group to support them, and for them to support, they are wonderful.

Your best bet for a bard is an elf, for they can use bows without wasting a Feat for the proficiency or forcing you to take a level as a Fighter. If you have a human bard, get the Mercantile Background feat and have him do all your buying: you'll save a lot of money. In either case, Max out starting Charisma, and ALWAYS get Lingering Song. This Feat will let the bard sing and fight for a few rounds while the party still benefits from the song. Keep the bard the hell AWAY from melee combat. If you are willing to get 1 level in fighter for the max choice in weapons, go with polearms, as they keep you away from the front lines. Want to wear armor? Max out your Armored Arcana Feat fast, and do not wear anything heavier than studded leather. But if want an opinion, skip it. Armor will help in the early game, but once you start finding those bracers of defense, the armor will not be necessary, and you'll wish you had those Feats back.

WIS isn't all that important, but INT can be. What INT you take depends on what sorts of skills you want. If you want skills like Alchemy and Knowledge:Arcana, then you want a decent INT bonus. Likewise if you want your Bard to be your spokesperson and so need Bluff and Diplomacy, as well as a good INT for dialogue. But if you just want skills like Hide, Move Silently, Pick Pocket or Concentration, INT isn't hugely important (don't reduce it, but you wouldn't need more than 10 or 12 depending on your skill needs).
I give my Bards a high INT as they are party leaders and have a lot of skills. My current Bard is a Wild Elf (level 6) with:
    STR:12 DEX:14 CON:10 INT:16 WIS:8 CHA:17 (bonus points go here)
Skills: Bluff, Diplomacy, Concentration, Spellcraft, Knowledge:Arcana
Feats: Courteous Magocracy, Lingering Song, Spell Focus:Enchantment

It makes your songs last for two rounds.

So you play a song, and that takes one round. Now, you have one free round to do something before you need to play the song again to keep the effects.
