I thought dipping into Barbarian would make my character a lot faster. I don't know why, but he's not moving noticably faster than any of my other characters.

    Do they actually move faster?

Yes. The speed bonus is even a little bigger than the one you get for the dash feat.
The extra speed might be cancelled if you are wearing heavy armor, I never tried it out myself.

He's wearing studded leather... I see no difference though. :(

What race is your barb? If your barb is from one of the short races, they're already starting off a bit slower than the taller races, IIRC, so a dwarven barb in studded leather might not really be any faster than a human.

He's Drow. But he is holding a large shield, would that matter?

The half-orc barbarian in my party moves noticably faster than the other characters in my party, with the exception of the shield dwarf cleric (the only character in my party who has taken the Dash feat).

If you really want to test it, create a new party. Give all of the characters identical races, ability scores, everything except character class. Have at least one barbarian and at least one non-barbarian. Then send them on a footrace in Targos and see whether the barbarian is faster.
