After one of the Obsidian forum members posted a few excerpts from the latest PC Magazine regarding Baldur's Gate 3, a discussion started there. It seems that Baldur's Gate 3 has been in the making for a couple of months. The publisher is, of course, Atari, but the developer hasn't been announced yet. There is no connection between this BG3 and the former (failed) BIS BG3 project. Supposedly, the game will be a prequel to the Baldur's Gate saga.

Atari has spent the last few months working with an unannounced developer on the high concept for BG3. It's an entirely new game with no connection to the cancelled BG sequel that was once covertly developed at the now-defunct BIS.

The plot will be set in the early days of Bg, but don't be surprised if you run into a hambster-totting ancestor of Minsc.

I really hope that BG3 is not the 'unnanounced console game' that is being developed by Bioware.

    From Obsidian as well:
Now why not just go with what worked in the first games?

Don't mind if a game is a hybrid of RPG and whatever else, so long as whatever else doesn't include doing the FPS kind of fingerjob on one's keyboard.

Don't worry, someone high in BioWare's chain of command would have to fall on his head to make BG3 console only. They're pretty sensible folks, they won't follow Interplay's path.
