I just got done writing a bio for Floran, my Human Bard in Eberron, and I really like how it turned out. (though honestly, I need to give it some more work, adding NPCs and a lost love. I think)

If you have fun backgrounds that you want to share, by all means feel free :D

Ttt, you broke rule nr.2 in description writing.

Other than the breaking of that rule, all good. :thumb:

Hehe, I guess I did break those rules. I never stumbled across them though, so I'll use that as my defense :D Still, I see a description as a description of what happens when you first meet the character in question. This character would introduce himself. And uhm ... talk about his butt? Mhmm... Better place that somewhere else in the bio

This was always the hardest part of role-playing for me. How do you guys do it?

One word of advice comes to mind: don't be too thorough, because then you'll be attached to your character to the point where you won't be able to develop him.

Other word: for goodness' sake, give your character realistic dimensions. It's peculiar to see an adventuring party with extremely tall and skinny fighters and rogues.

I'm actually trying to come up with a character background for a "normal person".

I have the choice of being an Expert, Commoner, or Warrior.

This campaign will have us start off as regular people, and develop into adventurers eventually. I think it sounds like a lot of fun!

Problem is this: Background is the hardest part of character creation for me normally, and I'm having a harder time than ever now! Any help would be appreciated.

Well, what's your character concept? What's the type of character you want to play? Give us an idea of the characteristics of your character.

Well, right now I'm trying to make a human character. He's to be the spit-boy of a local lord (basically he turns roasts to make sure they don't burn over a fire). Also skilled in skinning animals and is basically a cooks assistant.

I want him to have an attitude of aspiring to be something greater (he definitely will, assuming he survives).

He's a human, fairly young (16 or 17), and I'd like him to be curious, and maybe a bit reckless.

I'm using the 3.0 rules. His class will be either Commoner, Expert, or Warrior. I think I view him (with his reckless attitude) as maybe a bit of a brawler, kind of like a young Caramon from the Dragonlance novels.

Any and all help in coming up with a background would be much appreciated! TIA!

I'm thinking of a Monk of the Sun Soul who died as an Aasimar and was brought back as a human.
Usually I don't have these weird 'reincarnation' backgrounds, but it is part of his being a cleric as well with the renewal domain. Still got many issues with this char, but I think I'll like this one.
