    Hello, I'm new, so I figured this is a good way to start. I'm a little unorthodox sometimes (I mean really, I KEPT Aerie throughout all of BGII, how wierd is that?) But my second time round I'm trying something a little different. Suggestions are welcome. And for those of you wondering about the gender thing, I would be female the last time I checked.

    Me (fighter/tank...and the char I got is so good it beats you know who from ToB in most stats, and no I didn't use the cheats for stats)
    Anomen (tank/cleric)
    Yoshimo/Imoen (theif and occasional magic)
    Jaheira (healer)
    Kelsey (gotta have some serious magic, and Edwin irritates me...and Anomen's romance is annoying)
    Valygar (because I needed someone else)

    I was thinking about bringing on Soulafein later on, maybe in place of Valygar, but I'm not sure how that will work with Kelsey around AND I've read that he'll get abducted by Bohdi whether it's a romance or not...but does that means Kelsey won't? I'm a little confused. So aprty advice, and a clarification there would be great. :)

    if you want to replace valygar, then a suggestion would be keldorn. he can use carsomyr, one of the most powerful weapons in the game, and his dispel ability really comes in handy. if you want solaufein, you could take out kelsey...but if hes there for the romance then maybe you shouldn't get solaufein. also about the bodhi abducting part, i was romancing aerie, AND viconia...(mod)... and still bodhi still chose to abduct sola...and he is HARD

    looks fairly well balanced to me, although there seems to be a little bit of redundancy in the fighter/healers

    if you have anomen, you don't need jaheira (and vice versa) - jaheira is better at tanking and disrupting wizards, but anomen is a blast against undead - i would pick one of them rather than both

    if you want an interesting and challenging party, try my current team...
    PC (blade) -> front-line distraction
    cernd -> werewolf enforcer
    mazzy -> machine gun
    tashia -> spell flinger

    i am having a lot of fun with these guys, and combat is never dull

    actuall with Keldorn, I love him but as I recall one of his stats was a little sucky...so I used a cheat code this time around to let my main fighter use that sword. It's just too good to pass up! Besides which if I want to carry on into ToB I'm probably going to need that sword. And Valygar's not a half bad archer. Him n Imo seem to be able to cause a lot of damage from the back.

    And as for Anomen and Jaheira I kept both of them around because a) I'm big on NPC interaction and plot lines, b) I've found having two healers, particularily if you get hit with a bad round of hold spells can be very helpful. Saved me a lot.

    you could just give keldorn the gauntlents of dexterity, which brings his DEX up to 18, giving him better AC

    Yeah, maybe I will, because there's pleanty of other two-handed swords I can use for my main character. and I wouldn't want to waste my grand mastery :) Though I probably wouldn't keep him in ToB, because that replacement I've got worked out. :)

    Is there another dexterity enhancing item, because I think I've got the gauntlets on Anomen right now?

    I think Valygar is wasted at the back of a party. He has ok AC, reasonable HP and decent THAC0 - so he should be up the front a lot. He is a stalker, so get him sneaking and backstabbing as he can do so much damage this way.

    If you want a good archer then go for Mazzy. She is the best archer in the game by far.

    Or replace Valygar with Chloe (an awesome fighter - the best available) and let her and Imoen have an interesting romance!!!

    Why are you trying to avoid saying Sarevoks name... This is a tob forum isnt it? I assume by occasional magic you mean always using magic, because if you use imoen for occasional magic your not really using her well. Other than that its a decent party. Just a regular fighter,cleric,mage/theif romp. Not particularly interesting but if its ure second time around a solid choice.

    I think Niskers is trying to avoid spoilers but it really doesn't matter as most who post on the boards have played, completed and some become experts on BG2 (not me though :p ).
    My recommended party for for good PC's would be

    PC - Inquisitor (Two handed Swords / halberds)
    Minsc (Two handed swords / Longbows)
    Nalia/Imoen - (spellcaster / temp theif - try to go to spellhold ASAP)
    Kelsey or Jan - (Main spellcaster or Jan can be main thief/ backup spellcaster)
    Jaheira - (Healer / druid spells very good / backup figher)
    Anomen - (Cleric offesive spells / backup figher)

    Replace Minsc with saravok later, or Anomen if he is annoying you.

    For evil its quite simple:

    PC - Fighter/ Assassin multiclass (Fighter / Theif if you don't like Shadowkeeper)
    Korgan
    Edwin
    Viconia

    That is the best party I have ever found but I always add Imoen and Saravok :)

    I was avoiding saying Sarevok, because I could've sworn I posted this thread in the SoA forum.

    I'm actually finding Valygar quite useful in the back. I've never been big on backstabbing and so forth, I'm much more of a front on fighter.

    Plus he's got Katana proficiency and I'm finding Celestial Fury quite useful on occassion.

    Malovae,
    Fighter/Assassin multiclass is not possible without cheating.

    Solaufein will be abducted whether you're romancing him or not, and as was already said, Vamp Sola borders on being overpowered (He drains 5 levels per hit and is basically immune to everything). Kelsey will be abducted if you romance him, just like the Bioware NPCs.

    Agreed with making Imoen a serious mage. Along with Kelsey, that's all the magic power you need.

    Honestly, that party will be just fine. If you want greater power, take Keldorn or Minsc in place of Valy, but you'll do fine with Valygar too.

    You did post it in the SoA forum, but since you obviously have ToB you should have posted it in this one, as forum descriptions clearly state. So it was moved.
