A new war has been officially declared and this time the victim is the US economy. But if I were the US economy I would hardly bother to lose any sleep over this latest declaration of hostilities, which can largely be added to the list of America's impotent posturing against inaminate objects, like the supposed "war on drugs." What a success story that has been. It's been a hundred years now, and we are still resolute that certain victory is just around the other side of the bong. Here is the official declaration by the blowhard of American journalism, Tom Brochaw. Check it out at about 9 minutes into this largely senile rant by Tom & Friends on this morning's edition of "Morning Jerk:"

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3036789/#29633016

The war is mostly being spearheaded by the American media, that great oracle of 24 hour continuous talking heads, and who better than CNBC to make the latest war more downhome by putting the needed face on the new axis of evil: The "government, Congress, the Arch-Devil, Barack Obama and the American "loser" homeowner:

But of course there must be an opposing side to all this, and who better than the "lefties" and Comedy Central. Who else would be so bold to defend the dartardly US economy?

What fun. But it was too much for the heads at CNBC. I like Jim Cramer (did you know he was a devoted Democrat?). But the war is taking its toll, even upon the most stout-hearted:

Wow! Meltdown City! To be continued....

They have gone up up up since the start of the crisis. Fine dining is going bad but Mickey D's is doing stellar business according to an article I read a while ago.

That makes sense. What's bad for Ruby Tuesday's is almost always going to be good for McDonalds.

The war continues with Stewart and Cramer this time. The War is engaged:

And Stewart strikes back (and this one is great) - again:

Sorry I should have reversed the two in sequence....

Here's one take on the current state of the media war of words:

Cramer is scheduled to appear on The Daily Show this thursday. I'll be tuning in for that one, but I don't expect many sparks to fly.

Personally, I think it's a coin toss. Jim Cramer wouldn't be the first person to foolishly write Jon Stewart off as "just a comedian". He's already done it twice -- and been made to look the fool for it twice. If he's able calm down and start thinking a bit more rationally, we won't be seeing any sparks this Thursday, but if his meltdown continues all bets are off. :)

Bah, they have removed the daily show clips. That is just stupid, you can go straight to the home page of the daily show and see it without paying a dime. Why do they bother?

Because Comedy Central doesn't generate any web traffic when you go to YouTube. :)
