I always seem to have to have at least 2 parties running at once. Would like your advice on the following two things. the only definant thing about my party is my PC is a cleric/illusionist, Jaheira is in it and it's a four man party.
Ok first part, the thief, Imoen is the obvious choice as always, but does anyway have any thoughts they'd like to share on any other theif char? (are they useful at all?) or are there any NPC's that can be dueled to a theif.
Second part, simple, for my party would Khalid or Minsc be better. Minsc is my favourite out of th the two, but Khald would be a better option for roleplaying, so i can't decide, any help would be good.

    Thanks in advance.

p.s: hope you understand the post

Other thieves - I usually stick with Imoen as my thief. The other ones that look good are Coran (you can't get until chapter 4), Safana (can get pretty early) and Skie (you need Eldoth and can't get her until chapter 5). I like getting NPCs early - especially thieves - and putting their skills where I want them. Shar-Teel can dual class to a thief and she's got a whopping strength of 18/58; unfortunately, she's Chaotic Evil.

The fourth member - Khalid is pretty good. He's the only good aligned, pure fighter. My only annoyance with him is he break morale more often than I like.

Minsc is very good, no matter how you want to play him. He can stealth in leather-type armor or tank it up in full plate (or both if you like).

Remember, Khalid and Jaheira are a team - you'll have to get rid of Khalid somehow if you want Minsc instead. On the other side of it, Minsc is paired with Dynaheir, so you'll need to do something about her reguardless of whether you want Khalid instead of Minsc or just want Minsc by himself.

Personally, I'd keep Khalid and Jaheira together. Equipment found later in the game will enhance Khalid's fighting abilities.

You can dual Imoen to Conjurer when you find Coran in the first chapter4 area (if she is still level 6 or lower because of the cap).Coran can both replace Minsc and Khalid and act as thief.
This would be the strongest party.
Drawback: You might get jealous when Imoen surpasses your magic skill.

or you could dual shar-teel, as she comes with lvl 2, has 17 dex, and can be recruited quite early (area east of beregost temple), if you don't mind a) a chaotic evil member (with ** large swords, ** in small swords and strength 18/58) and b) sneaking away from those nasty vampire wolves. oh yes, don't forget, you must have a male fighter beat her in single combat before she is willing to join your party. how often i had to use power word: quickload... poor little lvl1/1 monty... i don't want to think about it ;)

Yep, I play mostly evil dudes and Shar-Teel dual-classed as a thief is the way to go! I only wait 'til she gets to lvl3 for that weapon specialization in large swords...and since I usually have two oils of speed at this point, I stop by and get her boots of stealth on my way to kill Drizzt...
