[IMG] Just a quick question as I am re-addicted to BG2 after a while off!
In Ankhtala, there are two inns where on the first floor you encounter groups of adventurers trying to pick a fight.
I always used to whack'em the good old way because my then half-orc barbarian with 8 INT and 19 STR didn't like insults much... :smash:
Now as I am role-playing a R/C with 21 WIS (thank you BG1 books!), I have not fallen to their provocations and have let them live.. for now
So I was wondering if the more experienced gamers out there knew of any hidden quests related to these two groups (or any purpose to let them live) at the inns (one is in an inn at Waukeen's Promenade, the other at the bridge district I think), or if I just go ahead and destroy them.

Don't know, I know of a group in an inn at waukeen's promenade who is being led by a dwarf, but I always kill em.
There is also a group in the sewers who demand some money for walking by, for these, the only answer is also kill em.

I always kill the ones in the sewers, as well: they have great items and I see no point in them living. I was wondering more about the other two in the city itlsef.

If the one in the bridge district is led by a guy called Captain Dennis, his group does actually have a quest. Cast a limited wish spell and ask for "an adventure you'll never forget" and the quest will begin with a note sending you to him. Once completed you get his boomerang dagger +2, which i think is the only valuable item you get for killing him and his guys.

There is another hostile group of individuals in the bridge district, in the area to the NE of the five flagons and SW of the large area where you find the fallen paladins. Its a set of two doors, one with a set of steps leading to it, the other door is further to the east and has the group behind it.

[IMG] thanks zerox, then I will maintain captain Denis and his crew alive!
I would have never thought of doing limited wish to get a quest!

AFAIK, the group on the second floor of the Seven Vails in Promenade, the suddenly hostile group in Bridge area which zerox described and the Sewer toll beggers have no quests related to them in the regular game.

I only ever save Capt. Dennis so I can get his gong.

It's a choice you get when you cast Limited Wish. Ask the djinn for an adventure like no other (or words to that effect). It only happens once though. You get some XP and a boomerrang dagger.

I always found the Limited Wish adventure rather dull in relation to the effort you have to put in (traipsing all around the world), but I must admit: it IS "an adventure like no other"!

Quest is dull indeed, and pointless. You can kill them from the start to get their loot for same effect. If you desperately need a few more XP, do the quest before killing them all. :p

You could tell the djinn you want something else. From Beren's walkthrough:

Speaking of tavern quests, I recommend the G3 Anniversary mod, which takes you to every tavern in town, including a new coffee house in the promenade. I recommend it more for the humor than for the actual quest element, but there IS a fun fight at the end.

[IMG] I think I'll try the quest though, just for thrills. Never did it before. And then I'll kill them all

[IMG] Just did that "quest you'll never forget"... quite a pointless quest with no real challenges...

That's the point! The rest of the game is so combat-heavy, it's nice to relax and do this ridiculous almost-FedEx quest. "He used it as a what?!" :shake:
