I went to the Adventurers Mart and bought a weird ring there. It costs about 11000 GP, looks like an ordinary Ring of Energy, but its name was a long sentence and the description was some blabbering. I equipped it on my chars and, surprise, surprise, it changed their AC. That's nice, but the weirdest thing is when I tried it on Minsc, it gave him 3 AC, but, when on Anomen, it gave 5. Anybody encountered this thing before?

[IMG] What was the name of the Merchant?
Are you sure it was a ring?

Deidre, a special merchant (limited edition only; get the download), sells:

    Robe of Venca:
    Lowers casting time by 4
    Sets AC to 5
    Gives +10 to magic resistance

Minsc has 2 better to his AC than Anomen because of 16 dexterity.

It sounds like something that got put in the game by a mod.

It can't be the Robe of Vecna. It costs a bit more than 11,000 Gold, and Minsc and Anomen are not able to wear it. I can't think of what it is on the top of my head, but I suggest you take a look in one of the item lists in SP: Games: BGII section.

I think the mercykiller ring costs that much. But it does not change your AC.

THe RING added2 to MInsc' AC. It sounded like a cheat, becaus i was able to lower Anomen's AC to -8.

[IMG] I think it is because you install mods and if you uninstall them and install other ones you get a ring with a weird name. I think there is a ring that doesn't have a valid string ref in the dialog.tlk thingy

Items do not use the dialog.tlk file.

Bah, my mistake. Yes they do. I simply make the statement quickly since adding items and such do the game do not require any modifications to the dialog.tlk file. They do need it to display the information in their files properly, though.
