1.Aasimar paladin (leader, diplomacy, intimidate, bluff etc and yes, I don't want a sorc leader instead although I know it's 'better' )

    STR 14
    DEX 10
    CON 10
    INT 14 (RPing, no less)
    WIS 16 (RPing, no less)
    CHA 16 (RPing, no less)

2.Drow rogue (of course NG ) with one level of ranger (free dual-wielding)

    STR 12
    DEX 20
    CON 10
    INT 20 (for SP)
    WIS 10
    CHA 8

Probably dualling some light weapons with finesse taken or longsword&bow

    3.Drow wizard

    STR 8
    DEX 20
CON 14 (hp helps, concentration bonus too, although wis-based saves could be good too)
    INT 20
    WIS 10
    CHA 8

    4.Aasimar sorcerer
    STR 8
DEX 16 (for AC, I consider exchanging points with INT)
    CON 10
    INT 16 (for SP)
    WIS 10
    CHA 20

    5.Aasimar priest (Tempus or Helm)

    STR 14
    DEX 10
    CON 16 (concentration + HP)
    INT 12 (to get 2 SP/lev )
    WIS 20
    CHA 8 (not really a turning-oriented Lathanderian)

    6.

Shield dwarf fighter or Human (plain) ranger/druid, more of a druid
    STR 18 STR 10
    DEX 12 DEX 18
    CON 20 CON 10
    INT 10 INT 10
    WIS 10 WIS 18
    CHA 6 CHA 10

also considering a second rogue (then one would be a stealth fighter and the other would be lockpicking only, remaining hell of a lot of SP for Lore to allow the casters not to waste their SP on that), a ranger (archer) a bard, an Aasimar priest (second) of Lathander (turning oriented) or a drow fighter (18, 20, 16, 10, 10, 6)

This way the whole party gets casting/spell aving oriented, but melee potential doesn't get screwed with even some ranged capabilities preserved.

Note: For RP purposes no high int low wis chars or vice versa. I don't believe in 6 INT 20 WIS Aasimar priests, 20 INT 6 WIS drow wizards etc. I would never take any of the two below 10 for a spellcaster or 8 for a tank. Charisma 6 isn't that uncommon for a dwarven fighter though...

Someone said that average party's charisma is considered for buying prices, but others don't agree. If that's true than two 20 CHA sorcs do make sense, of course if the difference is really that big.

Charisma does affect the price when purchasing but IIRC the prices depend on the charisma of the first character who speaks to the merchant. That's why I cast Eagle's Splendor on my paladin before buying.

It's refreshing to see someone taking roleplaying into account. (Although I must confess I've done a little powergaming myself. Just a little though. My Dwarven Battleguard must've been the most repulsive dwarf alive :D )

I noticed they're all going to get more SP than normal. As they'll be somewhat weaker in CON, DEX & STR, maybe they should ALL get the hide & quiet moving? You know, I'm a broad-minded roleplayer ;) This would perhaps mean abandoning heavy armory sometimes, but well... arcane guys rely on stoneskins and rogues aren't going to wear plates anyway, priests have some good buffs and fighters can go with item power-ups.

    I'm now contemplating some changes:

    1. Paladin. Perhaps 2 off wisdom added to charisma? I want that 16 wisdom, but 18 charisma is not out of character too Will get some concentration and a limited spellcraft, but most will go to diplomacy and intimidating.

    2. Rogue. With +2 ECL and one level of ranger, the BAB is not to be so high and same to skill points I aim for . Maybe a plain human will do better... Will max out lockpicking and other thieving skills except pickpocketing (I never use that). Stealth and quiet moving to allow sneak attacks. That's what that hell of a lot of SP is for.

    3. Wizard. Again, +2 ECL for some bonuses and higher stats. A plain human could have more skill points and get useful feats faster (esp. in such an int-friendly party)...

    4. Sorcerer. ECL +1 is not that much for that charisma +2 and another +2, but again plain human gets one more feat and 1sp/lev. This means 2 points off inteligence to be allocated otherwise.

    5. Aasimar priest. As he's to be a supporting tank he seems OK. Human will get more SP, but less of useful stat points.

    6. Shield dwarf is an almost perfect tank (however a drow would mean more AC for less HP and the magic resistance), but adding a second rogue, also drow, would get more skill-mongers and allow the to cut on int, add to their physical stats and make them not that bad semi steal tanks. Also if a second priest would be added, a Lathanderian with good INT & CHA to get spellcraft & good turning, the Tempus/Helm one could get more tanky stats (or become a tanky druid so that I don't get bored too much and with one ranger level - both are light-armour-oriented and dualling isn't bad for a supporting tank) and still remain a worthy divine caster.

All of them have pretty much int and SP in perspective (esp. if changed to human) so I thought of giving each of them a good hiding & quiet moving to enable several tactical possibilities. Imagine an enemy camp in which six characters emerge out of the blue near the command tent, cut any throat in range and then fasten the ranks for tanks to fend off minions while the two arcane guys conjure up hell and His Eminence patches them all up and blesses in the meantime shortly before using his wide connections. Heheheh...

    =============

So, would you please comment on the changes proposed? I treat them all as a matched team, so a change in one character means some different possibilities/limitations for the other guys (like with two rogues or two priests).

Also, what do you think of bards? Their tables look quite awesome, I think. What about a bard instead of one of rogues or the sorcerer? Or getting a second & third one level class where it isn't followed by XP penalty?

Heheh... Esse quam videri bonus malebat Cato :D

Seriously speaking, I really need all suggestions :) Especially on the no.6 character... I don't need third arcane caster, but a real tank, a second drow rogue (longsword, longbow, magic res., +4 stat points), a second priest (Lathanderian guy, the Helmite/Tempus will then get closer to tank with stats) or a bard sound nearly equally appealing. What's more the 6th char is needed in such a party, so the quintet doesn't go. So...?

Deep Gnome monks are very good. The best brand of monk money can buy...I mean ability points! Seriously, the extra AC and mirror image make them nearly untouchable for chapters on end.

[IMG] to Shura the Lightslayer <just for fun of RP / remember Spocks brother Sybok ? opposit to all Vulcans ? full of emotions ?>

And what about RP / back story? Drow normally do not interact friendly with other races. This means a only drow party should be evil, but for a not only drow party with a drow:
    - this one has been banished from his clan for being "strange" - like does not like to be unfriendly to other creatures ... therefor wandering through lands and joins a mercenary/warior/adventurers party
    - parents killed and was taken as a child by: human, elf, >>> aasimar <<< parents ...
    - was born as drow to overcome the hate between drow and other races ... <to the will of Maya ?>

    Such a drow should be no only not-evil she/he should be Good-good ... :)

P.S. There are some thing in IWD2, that are in pretty funny way like this - my Lawful/Good drow speaks to Elytharra and she says <something like>: "I could not believe that a drow is walking the streets of this town ... it is unusual profession for a drow to be a mercenary" and later she says: "it would by hard to earn trust, but if you earn it we will be your friends ..."

    P.P.S. I would like a "fallen paladin" or "excommunicated monk": */Evil ;)

    P.P.P.S. As for only drow party: She-Cleric of Lolth ... <I'm missing you> ...

All the chars will get bios, so that's no problem. The drow wizard won't be (unless a non-ecl sorc is in party) and the rogue/ranger is likely to rather be human to avoid 2 levels lost and maintain high sp level (+1 sp for human will be same as 2 int more in drow, but two levels = 8+2*INT bonus SP).

Is a CG "Drizzt" Ranger any more "odd" than my Durgar Paladin of Helm? Roleplaying is whatever you make of it, there are not textbooks...

Duergar paladin of Helm is probably all about roleplaying.
