A ToB Tool can it be used in SoA?

Maybe the wrong forum, wasn't sure which one to put it in, so sorry to Tal if its wrong!

But, in TOB there is a tool installed where you can hold the Tab button down and any usable items (chests, doors etc) and pickable items (from corpses etc) would be clearly highlighted.

I find this tool very useful indeed, and the idea of being without it, is akin to the idea of somebody confiscating my mobile phone indefinately. Excrutiating as you can imagine.

However, recently i uninstaleld both SoA and ToB due to a mod or something screwing up the game. TOB is being a b itch and the installation cuts out for no apparent reason around the 85% done mark. Rather annoying.

So my question is: Is there a mod or similar that grants you the tool in SoA? If not, i guess i'll just have to muddle through! Thanks for any replies :)

Yeah, the TAB key works in SoA as well as ToB. Very handy! It just sucks that it doesn't highlight some things that you need in either game such as statues that have to be fiddled with

He asked if it worked without ToB installed or if it exists any mods that does it and my answer is:

Not within my knowledge, gotta get to install ToB anyhow anyway. How about a little troubleshooting?

[IMG] The highlighting button comes with a ToB installation, there is no way to get it separately. I'll move this to the ToB forum where people can help you get your ToB install to work, if you provide some more info.

    Thx Tal :)

I have been told that this problem is caused by a dodgy disk :bad:.

It appears to work fine until it gets to 85% installed, then simply stops and goes back to the desktop. No error message of any kind and no clear reason as to why its doing it. Very much to my chagrin.

Think my only choice is to go and buy another copy of ToB :( More money wasted! Bah!

If I do that, ill buy it on Amazon via the links on SP of course :)

Can't you borrow it from a friend or something?

And maybe there is just one file corrupted. If this is the case, look at what file the program is installing when it crashes. Then you could ask someone with a fast internet connection to send you the file and you could try and make a new cd with the uncorrupted file.

He said he had it working before. Due to that, I highly doubt it's a corrupted file (it's not a writable CD, so files shouldn't be able to get corrupted).

Well...I've heard Bioware's Tech Support is really good. Maybe you could mail them a proof that you've brought the game (eg the box) and they might mail you a new copy.

There is an easy way to check if your disc is bad or not... Simply try to copy everything from it to your hard drive. If it gets stuck at any point, you'll know it's damaged there.

    @Deathmage

There is a small fee for that (S&H), but it's still a lot cheaper than buying a new one at retail.
