Had some fun this weekend on the quest to discover what's going on with the Goblins in the Quivering Forest.

One suggestion I'd like to make after experiencing the Goblin chief's tent, is to not make transitions where you appear right in front of monsters.

The reason is the difference in real time that it takes for people entering the transition to appear in the new location. I can enter after somebody, yet be the first person to appear in the new location.

That kinda ruins the strategy of letting a heavily armored warrior type go in first followed by the more support type people; the support people may end up in the new location first...

[IMG] Yeah, that's a pretty well known one BTA, and the Toolset does give the DMs the power to seperate trigger and spawn in point. In outdoor/large caverns I use it a lot. Those using 'camera hack' can see the monsters before the monsters see them!
The downside is, the DM can never put a monster in a small space like a tent or a small house. Sometimes I like to spice things up a bit and DO have monsters spawn 'in yer face' or even behind your back. The multiplayer rule for confined spaces is changing from 'send the heavy armoured in first' to 'send the DSLs in first, followed by those on 56k dial up!'
Nice to see so much real roleplay going on, with some playing reckless fools and others advocating a more cautious approach. At the end of the day, its all about what your character would do.

[IMG] Yeah, I agree with that last statement! The problem is, my character wouldn't go in first, yet that's the way it turned out on many occasions even though I entered second or even third! :)

But yeah I can understand it can cramp the DMs style to not be able to have monsters in your face occasionally.

Too bad there isn't something like in the Infinity Engine games where in certain places "You must gather your party before venturing forth!". That way everyone must enter the transition and there could have been code to make sure everyone appeared at the same time...
