I just came across this quote by C.S. Lewis. Any comments?

Sure, that applies when you've got enemies. What happens when genocide occurs, like East Timor for example, or Nicaraugua or Vietnam? Those were not true enemies. The US wants 'World Peace' when in fact for their survival, they need to control the world.

I don't think CS Lewis (I used to love his Narnia books) would support the killing of someone, just cuz he looked at you funny.

EDIT -- I screwed up... East Timor wasn't directly involved with the US (Indonesia was getting weapons from the US though).

    Ummm... How about Panama.

When war was declared, I hated hearing comments like, "It's showtime!" One may feel that war is a necessity but one doesn't have to look forward to it. I also hate the smug looks some U.S. government and military officials have when they announce that certain objectives have been met. No matter how well they are achieved, lives were still lost on both sides. Just congratulate the troops and move on.
