14-10-10-14-14-18 Paladin: better pure class or Mystra/wizard?

Aasimar, STR 14, DEX 10, CON 10, INT 14, WIS 14, CHA 18 (roleplaying, different powergaming views too)

I initially intended him to be a pure class paladin. However his stat doesn't really predistinate him to a heavy duty tank role. With that INT wouldn't he do better as Mystra/Wizard (perhaps starting ranger to dual the Avenger)?

He was to be a part of a six team, but if Mystra/wizard then maybe taking just one druid-x/barb-1/ranger-1 instead of the five, giving around 25 lev, would make him more efficient?

I'd put the four wisdom into Con, and add to WIS every fourth levelup. That way you have enough wisdom when you are able to cast Paladinspells, but you'll benefit from the slightly higher CON during levelingup in lower levels.

And yeah, Mystra seems appropriate. Too bad a certain spellcasting armor is not available till late in the game :D

Well, I suppose with such an INT he's even without any wizard levels at all going to be closer to Mystra order than Helmites or Ilmaterians. It' however roleplaying choice only since the order doesn't affect anything else than multiclassing as far as I know....

The wisdom was to be 16, but I chose charisma 18 instead and 2 wisdom added later. So the physical stats are going to remain as they are. Pally gets 100% BAB & WIZ gets 50% so some 50/50 gets you 75% BAB like a priest or rogue. With the Holy Avenger shouldn't be that bad although 50/50 will neither be a good paladin nor a decent wizard. So, who's played such a combo or knows how that works (maybe 40/60, 60/40, 70/30... or just one level of wizard to be allowed items)? I suppose he'd then be a good covert-ops guy (Holy 007 heheh), so w/o armour & with much SP for that int, he could get some hiding & stealth.

Sorcerer means the holy path abandoned ;) I'm speaking of wizard because Mystra's paladins are allowed to take wizard levels without ceasing to advance in paladin class. Contemplating the Painbearer of Ilmater possiblity as well. If you're wise enough this can get you low-level spells quickly and rather cheaply. Or a complete multi 50/50, but I want the paladin class to be dominant in this case. Judging by the stats I gave him (to emphasise strengths and make up for weaknesses) what's the best for this character out of the four: pure class, pal/fighter(4-5) of Helm, pal/cleric (some) of Ilmater or pal/wizard (close to 50/50) of Mystra?

I think focusing on the Paladin class isn't bad at all, you've just got to realise that your mage class will have less levels. But most mage protection spells are pretty low level anyway, and that's what would make this paladin extra hard to kill.

Mage protections would look like casting blur, mirror image, shield & armour and putting the shining plate on ;)

So, you know, I'm going to finally start playing after four days (wow, heureca!)... Final OK/no to remaining pure class vs taking wiz levels (adjusting class to stats, not reversely)?
