[IMG] That sounds like a great idea!...Please speak into the smilie :shake:

I highly doubt this could ever actually happen...Americans get very touchy about invasion of privacy issues.

[IMG] Uytuun - I appreciate your enthusiasm, but just because it's in the news it doesn't mean it's true...they tend to "over exagerate" things occasionally. I know it's shocking to hear, but it's true!

From what I've heard, this is something the Administration has proposed. I fully expect it to get shot down, since both liberal and conservative activists think it's crap.

Although I think it'd be kind of cool if the telephone repairman reported to the Feds that I'm using a Palestinian flag to line my trash can.

I dont think that is such a good idea, people will be more paranoic and it could lead to fatal misunderstanding and it could be misused for personal benefits! :toofar:

Sir Bel, I'm not enthusiastic at all. As Total said in his post, people will get totally paranoid if everyone will be a possible spy.

And I don't know what you mean with the overexagerating thingy. I only wanted to say that it is the truth that Bush is PLANNING to create a network of citizen spies. And the newspaper I read it in is not some sort of silly tabloid.

[IMG] I was just messing with you!!!

I think it'll be hard to get people to do that...Unless they were well paid, got tax exempt status, or something cool like that. Most people pretend not to see what's going on around them, or turn a blind eye to it.

Although - the price of freedom is vigilance, and I think every citizen in America has an affirmative duty to report activities that could be considered terroristic or potentially life-threatening. But if my neighbors call the feds every time I peel a tag off a mattress...I am going to be mad!!!

    I don't think it'll pass. Resembles 1984 too much.

But if it does, I'd sign up. I'd rather be spying on other people, not being spied on.

Truthfully though, I really wouldn't care, I don't do anything illegal or dangerous so it wouldn't bother me any.
