[Cheat] Instant Spellcasting

How to enable instant spellcasting on all characters

  1. gibberishh
    Instant spellcasting requires two abilities:
    1. Casting time reduced to 0 for all spells
    2. Aura cleansing so that spells can be spammed one after another without waiting for the round to finish.
These can be achieved by creating an item to confer these abilities on the wearer. A more permanent way is to set them as permanent abilities of each character. It's also more reliable -- I had uploaded a spellcasting amulet to do these things but spellcasting times were not always properly affected. Using this method, spellcasting is always almost instant.

Here's how to do it in Dale Keeper 2. It's a little trickier to achieve in IWD2 than in IWDEE.

    1. Load your normal game and rest. Preferably, unequip all items from all your characters. This will prevent confusion when editing the characters with Dale Keeper 2.
    2. Cast a buff on the party, e.g., Bless.
    3. Save the game and quit.
    4. Open your saved game in Dale Keeper 2.
    5. Switch to the Affects tab.
    6. If you followed the steps above, all your characters will have the bless effect applied on them (or whatever other buff you chose). If you did not unequip all your items, their effects will also be listed here.
    7. Select the bless effect and click Duplicate.
    8. Double-click the new effect and modify the values according to the following:
    Aura Cleansing
    Type: 0x000000BC
    Param 1: 0
    Param 2: 1
    Flags: 0x00000009
    Time: 0
    Probability: 100
    Target: 0x00000001
    Resource 0, 1, 2, 3: blank

You will then have to scroll down to individual offsets listed below and modify their values if they are different:
    0x010: 0x00000001
    0x054: 0x00000002
0x0A0: Aura Cleansing [this is not necessary, only gives a nice descriptive name to the effect]

Now check values of all other offsets that were not modified above (except Signature and Version), and make sure they are either blank, 0, or 0x00000000. Values of type 'char' should be blank, type 'int' should be 0, and type 'DWORD' should be 0x00000000.

    Click Ok.

    Increase Casting Time
Select the effect you just created and click Duplicate. Now double-click the new effect and modify the following values:
    Type: 0x000000BD
Param 1: 7 [reduces casting time by 7]
    Param 2: 0

Now scroll down and modify the values of the following offsets:
    0x010: 0x00000000
0x0A0: Faster Casting Time [not necessary]

    Click Ok.

Now that the effects are applied to this character, you can select each effect, click Copy, and paste it on to other spellcasters in the party. Save, and load the newly saved game in IWD2.
