Is Finger Of Death on Dragons Cheating?

    [​IMG] Sorl, the mists are unkillable. The only way to finish the vampires after they turn into mists is to have a couple of stakes with you and use them on their coffins. That kills them for good.
    Of course, ths only works in tombs/dungeons where the vampires actually HAVE tombs. If it happens outside, who knows where the mists go...

    Dragons are a seroious threat to your party, escecially if they use their breath weapon they can annihilate (unresurrectable) half of your party. So I can understand why people use finger of death on them.
    So did I. Hell, the fight was over before anyone else of my characters was able to place a second shot or to start a melee attack!
    I think I will never again use it, just in case of emergency. I think that it strongly takes fun out of these epic dragon slaughtery.

    What did you do to prepare the dragon for the finger?
    I breached Shadow about 5 times plus that whip, reduced magic resistance 3 times and did 4 or 5 finger of death plus the same amount of other death spells, doing no damage whatsoever. At the end we (Nalia, Imoen, Viconia, Jaheira and me (sorcerer)) hit him with some other spells, Valygar kept working him with fury and the dragon finally died. I feel really bad about that (I had wanted to demonstrate to Valygar (40% of my parties kills) how real pros (spellweavers) do a fast clean kill).

    So did I miss anything important or was it plain bad luck (I didn't repeat the fight because I was totally frustrated)?

    [​IMG] You managed to kill the black dragon with a finger of death!!! I lowered that nut's resistance about 3 times, greater malison and when i cast the finer of death, he saved vs spell! How did you do it?

    Actually I don´t really know I did. It happened too fast. I remember tha in fact Aerie was casting a high level break magic scroll (I don´t exactly know which), Viconia casted something else and I was casting finger of death whil my archer/ mellee-men were forming.
    FLASH - dragon dead.

    In the combat report I was named to be the lucky killer. Quite probable that it was sheer luck.

    Heh, I never thought of using FoD on a dragon, I just figured it would fizzle out and not work...Oh well...I've fought 3 dragons, Firkraag, Shadow Dragon and Adalon...Managed to kill them with my human kensai...and his buddies...

    Never ran into any other dragons yet...but I agree with the 'non-satisfaction' of just killing it like that...
