I saw this character creation guide at my friends place that was written by "Riverwind". This guide was absolutely awesome an advocated the use of an Avenger--->Fighter(only possible if the druid is imported from bg1). I'm thinking of doing this as the guide seemed to think that this class is the best possible class ever and i want to test this hypothesis. If anyone knows a link to a site where this particular guide is or have the guide themeslves can they email it to me.

No actually Tal, the guide I am talking about might be written by riverwind as well but it is a different one! Strange they're both very similar but I'm looking for the one with the info on an Avenger Fighter

There doesn't seem to be any guides on a Fighter/Avenger by Riverwind, or anyone for that matter. I did find out that his real name is Andrew Shih, and I looked for that, but to no avail.

Why do you need a guide? Just do it! I can see why he would say that a Fighter/Avenger would be an awesome character because the Avenger is the best character. Also, I wonder if being a fighter/avenger would cancel out the STR and CON weakness? Probably would. So, I think I can safely say the Fighter/Avenger would be unstoppable.

[IMG] But you cannot dual class TO a kit, but you can FROM a kit...hence, a Fighter/Avenger is impossible in the game, legally at least.

But I really dont know what is so great about the avenger...he has a crappy weapon and item selection, he hardly gets amazing mage spells worth picking him for it, and if i wanted those spells, I would have picked a Fighter/Mage or a Kensage.

Also, he might be good in early SoA, but after you hit the Underdark...he is pretty useless. Atleast thats my opinion. Please dont flame me for it and ignore the typos please.

Also, I'm really interested in playing another class from what I normally play (i.e mage oriented classes), so if someone could tell me what was so great about the Avenger, I'd love to try him out. I wanna be a convert...gimme a reason, please.

[IMG] I have the guide, the filename is BG II CLASS 2.1.doc
I put it here in zip-format. It probably is somewhere on Sorcerer's Place but I can't find it either.

Here is what he writes on the Avenger-Fighter:

    Icardine Invoker...

The Avenger, in my opinion is the best Druid. I find the druid the most fun to play. From a roleplaying perspective, he's deep, in tune with nature and has a good array of spells that reaffirm that fact. The Druid is like the political activist or hippie of D&D.

It's not that the Druid is particularly powerful, I mean, after beating the game a couple dozen times you don't need to build a powerful PC anymore. The game is easy to beat with any class, but you can only play Fighter/Mage's and Berserkers so many times.

On the other hand, with spells like Ironskins and Nature's Beauty (NB is only possible with the XP cap removed) the Druid can become really powerful. A fighter/druid is a great class too. Ironskins makes it worth it.

How come this combination is only available if you import from BG1?

Because in order to dual-class to a Fighter you need to have at least 17 STR, which a BG2 Avenger cannot get (-2 STR and CON at creation). If you import from BG1, your character keeps his exact stats, no matter what class you choose. So, if you play through BG1, your Druid could have 19 STR and CON even though he's an Avenger because of the Tomes.

So if one wanted to they could use SK to raise their strength to 17, then dual. If they didn't have BG 1 of course.
