For the last few weeks we've been doing intensive code cleanup and link-fixing in much of our legacy content, courtesy of @gibberishh . It's an ongoing process, as SP has been around since 1999 (yes, we're that old :geezer:) and we've accumulated a massive amount of content over the years. In the past, we could get by with really poor code in the content area and still have everything look fine, but that has all changed with the upgrade to our current site layout a few years back. At that point, more significant code issues in the content started causing the layout wrapper to break, making any such pages appear half-broken. And there were hundreds of such pages, with most needing to be fixed manually...

The task was so daunting that I've kept postponing it indefinitely. Thanks largely to @gibberishh 's agreeing to take a smaller chunk of it on (which later expanded to pretty much the whole site), and his ruthless efficiency in dealing with the bad code, we've now got practically the whole site cleaned up. What remains to be fixed and that I'm working on now is the in-content broken legacy links leading to pages on our first version of the forums, UBB.classic. Those links haven't been properly redirected (or fixed) during our conversion to vBulletin, and not later with the conversion to XenForo either. Identifying the proper pages to fix the links to now has taken some digital archaeology with content that old, but I'm getting there.

During the fixing of these links I've realized that while I've been posting various site happenings updates to Sorcerous Sundries over the last number of years, these haven't been properly tagged so that they would appear among the latest SP happenings linked on our Articles & Editorials page. This oversight has now been rectified and all the relevant updates now appear together, so you can catch up on anything important that you've missed.

Coming here to post this I've also realized that we've marked the 25th anniversary of Sorcerer's Place last month. Hard to believe, but we've really been at this for a quarter of the century! While most of the SP staff has changed over the years, the fact that @Blackthorne TA , @Beren and @catbert are still active here more or less from the beginning is really quite remarkable. Thanks for the support, guys!

Here's an Easter egg for all the old-timers:

    1) Go to https://sorcerers.net/community/search/?type=post
    2) In the field "Posted by Member:" fill in "NewsPro" (without the quotes)
    3) In the field "Minimum Number of Replies:" fill in "1" (without the quotes)
    4) At the bottom, at "Order By:" select "Most Replies" and tick the box "Display results as threads"
    5) Hit the Search button.

Enjoy the trip down the memory lane with the earliest news comments posted on Sorcerer's Place in the 2002-2004 period. The popular news posting script that we used prior to that did not allow for commenting news until we added a mod in 2002 that made it possible. Can you imagine that? :whoa:
