I watch sports when I have insomnia. Knocks me right out.

Yeah, that's a use my wife has for them. I never get insomnia so it's not an issue, but she has it more days than not, so it's sports or WWII documentaries.

    Agreed.
My dad was a big WWII buff and insisted on watching every WWII documentary that aired on cable. Given that we only had one TV until 1991, and the computer wasn't moved out of the TV room until around then, I wouldn't be surprised if I've seen every WWII documentary made before 1991, and possibly a good number of the ones made from 1991 to 1996.
It's not like I could use the Intelivision when he was watching his documentaries, and I sorta half paid attention when the computer was in the same room as the TV even if I was playing a game like Arkanoid II:Revenge of DoH or Curse of the Azure Bonds.

I've found that as a result of this, I'm practically a WWII buff myself, compared to the average person of my generation. I doubt I know half as much as my dad did, but I found I know far more than most people about WWII. Then again, in recent years I've made cracks on Dec 7 about "this most infamous of days" and most people don't know what I'm talking about. They think the Day of Infamy is 9/11. A lot don't know what June 6th is either.

I take it you played the IBM PC version? I got a Commodore 64 sitting right behind me. Took some work to get it back up and running but it was worth it.

At the time my dad was alive, I played the Apple IIGS or Apple II family version, depending on which game you are talking about.
I didn't get the PC version of the Gold Box games until the early 2000's when somebody gave me the Forgotten Realms Silver Edition when they couldn't get it to work on their modern system, and it would be years later before I could successfully play them with DOSBox. FRSR didn't work too well on my Win98SE system, speed and sound issues and the slowdown utility didn't work. It woulnd't be until I upgraded to XP and got DOSBox working that I actually got to really try the PC version.
I still have only played the Apple II version of Dragonlance.
I can't think of many games I have for the Apple IIGS that I have PC versions of, although I did get Silent Service when GoG was offering Silent Service I & II for a buck. Silent Service II was never released for the Apple II. I had played the A2 version at a friend's house, and technically I had a pirated copy I got from the Asmiov Apple II abandonware site back in the '90s, when it was considered a pirate site.

I did play the Gold Box Series including Curse of the Azure Bonds on the C-64 originally, too. However two decades later I re-played them on my PC emulating the Amiga version. Much prettier.

    Death comes for us all.

Wait he's a death mage anyway.

Eh, mine can wait. I've got a lot of years left, and I plan to enjoy them.

You'd think a death mage would be used to seeing ghosts. Or maybe he's a different kind of necromancer?
