[IMG] I cannot go to the location Windspear Hills. The game is loading, but it stops on about 60% progress, only way then is to reset the comp. If I run the game windowed, the end is the same, only I can shot the game down by pressing ctrl-alt-del. I have encountered this problem first with recommended instalation. I have made full installation later, and the installer wrote a message like "file Area1200.bif is corrupted" or something like that. This file is on CD3, on the CD and even on the HDD is 22.818 kB (some people have said it is correct). I dont know what to do. After the game crashed, I was looking to the Cache directory, there was Area1200.bif there, but the size was about 20.000 kB - strange. I have copied the file to the Cache directory manually before I have entered the location, but the result was the same. I have marked the file as read-only then, and the game has crashed imediatelly after it started to load the locatoin. If people are saying me, that the size is correct, why does the installer telling me it is not? CAN ANYBODY HELP ME?

you seem to be about 3 megs short. sounds like you have a bad disk. you may want to take it back and exchange the game. or i could email you that area and you could just copy it over the bad file. its pretty big though , a little over 22 megs, so it may take a while to download. let me know. i have had the same thing happen to me before and its a pain in the ass to deal with.

Who are you with that allow over 20+ megs to be sent via e-mail? That's insane!

[IMG] I had the same problem with BG1(kinda) with the lighthouse area. I would stop a ways before loading. Sometimes I could get it to load by removing and reinserting the CD or just generally fooling around with it, but it would lock up about halfway through the map. I tried everything I could think of (admitedly I'm not that computer savy as can probably be easily seen), but I could never get it to work. It was passable then because it wasn't necessary or really even important, but that dosn't really help at all I guess. Just saying there are other great adventurers held down by disk flaws. If I read their costomer help policy right, Bioware can and should send you a new disk is a few weeks time (that really sucks when your on a role). Sorry I can't be any more help.

[IMG] 'Scuze me for perhaps belaboring the obvious (since I KNOW everyone here always covers the basics first).. :) But whenever I run into any kind of loading problem, the first thing I do is run Scandisk, then do a Defrag on the drive. It's amazing how often that helps. Especially when you may be running low on space.

    :D

    Hey Syl.,
Just wait until IBM comes out with their 100 gigs for under $100. Supposed to be out later this year.

I have had this happen to me as well...What worked for me was to go into the BGII directory open the cache folder and then the data folder and delete all the files as well as the files in the (Its eithe the temp or the tempsave..only one has files in it).By deleting these files when you go to an area your computer gets the file for that area from the disk( or harddrive if you di a full install) again and stores it in those folders. This fixed the problem for me I hope it does the same for you :)
