Magic Missiles, just slashing and good range weapons... they aren't that tough, don't do much damage.... Only more at once are a small problem.

You don't have to waste time nor money for that shield.

As it is said many times - if you can't make your way with deflection spells to pass them - then summon creatures.

You don't need some fancy mage for it - Kitthix and Beserk Warrior should do the most job.

    SPOILER

otherwise, you can wait till you get to the Sahuagin City and pick off the Cloak of Mirroring from one of the Rebels you kill, of course to do this, you must choose to sail with Saemon on your way back from Brynnlaw, after which you can resume your beholder quests such as the Unseeing Eye quest....

Scout ahead and cast Sphere of Chaos, nothing like turning Beholders and Gauths into squirrels and petrifying them. A fun alternative if you can cast 7th level mage spells.

[IMG] :D :D :DI thought you would call this topic:

    BEHOLDERS ARE VERY POWERFUL

Only the elder orb means some threat because of his imprisonment spell, the others are rather easy to handle; just use web+chaos+spider spawn on them.

To be honest, I must say that I had more trouble fighting the Beholders and Mind Falyer in the underdark than I had killing any of the dragons :p
    I don´t really know why...?

same here.. it's always easier to face one single powerful than to face several not as powerful.. goblins excepted :)))) Especially when they use spells like mind flayers and beholders do.

illithids?? hard?? I don't think so! IF you haste some good archers and cast the cleric spell chaotic commands upon them (also has got long duration) they are a piece of cake...

Or take a paladin (mine was cavalier) give him Adjatha the driker (long sword) and boots of speed and he claen the nest of illithids :)
