Can anyone offer advice and help regarding spell-casting to a newer player? I bought BG2 bundled with ToB. It came with no player manual. I am unfamiliar with many of the spells -- what they do, which ones are useful and when, and also how best to perform spell-casting (or to speed it up in combat). I read their descriptions one-by-one in the spell lists; but still feel awkward and unsure about how best to utilize them.

My primary spell-casters at this time are Jaheira and Aerie -- Nalia is also in my party temporarily.

I will be grateful for any help you can offer.

Well, if you have a decent internet connection speed, you can download the entire SoA and ToB manuals from Sorcerer's Place by clicking the approperate links below:
    SoA Manual - it's 10.8Mb
    ToB Manual & reference card - it's 1.3Mb

    Hope that helps. :rolling:

Check your game directory, a .pdf file of the manual should be in there somewhere.

There are also several spell guides here on SP. You might also try the class guides for the classes you need help with. For such a broad topic they'll probably give more in-deph help then we could on a message board.

OK, Who knows a freeware un-rar-ing tool for the links supplied by Kitrax. I've never made it past zip files before.

This guide is pretty useful (although detailed).

Splunge, thanks for the link to the spell guide. It's great and (as you noted) quite detailed. I'm reading it as time permits between work, family and gaming time. many thanks.

I second Carcaroth's request for a tool to unzip rar files. I don't have one.

You're welcome, Lord N. I first found the site from a link Earl Grey provided.

Lone Badger, thanks for the tip about the pdf file. I checked for it last night and found it. That's helpful.

    I love this forum.
