Do you play on the original game engine or use TuTu/Trilogy?

It seems that the vast majority of members use TuTu and assume everyone else does as well.
Am I the only member who plays BG1 on the original game engine rather than using TuTu?

[IMG] I only assume people use tutu if they post BG1 queries in the BG2 forums. Personally I do use tutu as I prefer the BG2 settings, interface and kits.

I use the original game engine. I like having BG1 and BG2 feel like seperate games. Having the BG2 engine in BG1 would ruin the immersion into the game for me. Both are excellent, but I like how the characters look in BG1 more than in BG2.

I prefer tutu. I'm probably going to give BGT a go if I ever get around playing the Baldur's Gate series again (which I probably will :p). I just cannot go back to playing the original again.

Tutu for the options of Half-Orc and Monk/Sorcerer/Barbarian/Wild Mage and the kits of course. Also like the additional spells. Plus you get to utilize all the mods that require Tutu/Trilogy to be installed. You can play the vanilla game to you are blue in the face and always enjoy it. But Tutu/Trilogy just adds more fun for all. Many praises to Westley Weimer... :)

How does one install tutu once downloaded and where can I still find it? Does it install itself or what exactly needs to be done? Forgive my ignorance, but I'm still new at the mod scene and have always played the vanilla version.

Secondly, I purchased all the games on Amazon, however ToSC will not run on my PC as it is specifically for use in the US/Canada. :bang: Once installed, it also prevents me from accessing the original game as it crashes when I try to start up. Any way around this?

I know the second question is a bit off topic but would really appreciate any assistance on both problems.

Just had a look at the 2nd thread. But going back to the first question now I know where to find it. How does one install once downloaded?

Ok, found the patch on SP for the "country bug". Any help on qustion 1 would be highly appreciated though.

I use BGT over Tutu myself don't know why just do. I like using BG2s engine in BG1 I couldn't really stand Bg1s engine at all for some reason. I some times make a wild mage to play with. So far I have only played with mages. Mabe I should give one of my other characters a chance to shin. Might install it onto my windows 7 machine since my windows xp partition isnt working in my HTPC. I have had that HDD for years along with my BG BGT game and mods. Trying to reinstall all that is going to be a pain in my ass since I dont remember which mods I had or in what order I had them. Looks Like I will need to find the log and check that out before I reinstall it on my windows 7 machine. I can access the windows xp HDD thanks to a linux HDD that I use as the primary OS on my HTPC. I will be looking for the log so I can see what I have installed and in what order I have them.

I play the original game, if I want to play a game with BG2 skin, and BG2 settings, I play BG2 instead. ;)

In my humble opinion, the graphics and gameplay in BG1 is what makes it charming, and i believe it is a much easier game compared to BG2. BG2 contains longer, and more difficult, complex fights, which makes, for example, arrow stacks more useful in batches of 40, instead of 20.

Using tutu makes the game more of a breeze, and sticking to the original, plays the game the way it was "meant" to be played.. :p

    Edit: Fixed wording.

what happened to the poll I made with the thread? I can't find it.

Is there a way I can recreate the poll and attach it to this thread, or do I need to start a new thread?

I've used Easy TuTu once, and didn't like it much. I've played through quite a few times with BGT and loved it. I'm currently playing vanilla for the second time ever (haven't done that since it first came out), I've still yet to beat the vanilla game, and I think I might this time:D

Fathus, please discuss Tutu in our ToB forum (check the forum descriptions).

SlickRCBD, it doesn't look like you finished the poll as it's not showing in the thread. The limit to insert a poll in the thread has likely expired by now, otherwise you can do it via "Thread Tools" on top of your original post.

But since Tutu is discussed in our ToB forum, you'd get split results if you posted about it in either forum.

    The original set

I still use the original set of BG disks, I also got hold of the set with the DVD which makes installs easier. I imagine that I will try the BG2 route, but I am having fun with using my netbook to play the game - which is amazing considering the list of games I can play on it is very short.

Do people even know what's the difference between the BG1Tutu, EasyTutu, BGT and BGT-WeiDU ?
Or that some of them existed.

I use the best for my purpose... which at this time is the BG1/BG TotSC + Fields of the Dead mod.
    But usually, the BGT-WeiDU.

The original engine, but with widescreen mod, for me.

In my opinion, the added spells and kits of the BG2 engine break the immersion of the original game and sometimes even the balance.

Though it IS fun to play the complete saga with your favorite kit or one of the new classes. Plus BG2 runs much more stable on newer machines than BG1 does.

The low resolution of BG1 can at least be 'fixed' by the widescreen mod.

Haven't tried Tutu, but next time I play, I'm going to give it a whirl. Any big issues I should be aware of?

http://usoutpost31.com/easytutu/#KnownIssues sums up the 2 important ones (actually, the beregost crash is the only one that's really serious, apply the hotfix and you needn't worry about it. Green water can be either avoided with the degreenifier (making your Tutu-install almost 2GB bigger) or by turning off 3D accelaration).

    Greets Everyone!

    I'm using TuTu.

I owe it to this program that I'm even playing Baldur's Gate (I know, scandal!). I grew bored of online games and so wanted to set up a big adventure that would feed my crpg addiction. Ten minutes into it and I was hooked. I love BG! I can't wait to replay the experience soon.

Better late than never I suppose:)

I've been using BGT since I heard about it several years ago. I don't think I've played using the original engine since then. The BG2 engine improvements are worth it alone and get rid of the problems with character exports that don't work in both games.

Never tried TuTu, but from what I've read it seems like it doesn't do the full BG-BG2 transition in game?
