I am in chapter six, and all of sudden, puff and Imoen has an intelligence of 3!!!! The journal gives no glues to what happened and Restoration doesn't work.

Anyone experienced this?

 

Yeah, it happened to me, but with Valigar the ranger dude. the number wasn't red, so it was pretty much permanent. but it didn't bother me much, for a ranger it didn't change alot hehe, just look at Minsc.

 

It isn't a curse and it apparently permanent, as I've been playing with this for some days. (Playing time!)

It is kind of annoying, as Imoen is my only wizard.

are you effected by anything, mindflayers can drop your intel?

 

I am not affected by anything. I have tried removing all her equipment, having her resurrected/restored etc. and nothing works. Her stats are normal, ie not red, so she is not influenced by any magic.

I noticed the change after freeing the slaves in the slaver stockade, just after resting in the copper coronet. I heard this strange sound, and so checked my characters.

How high level spells can a mage with intel. 3 use? I have the manual, but it has dissapeared somewhere in my room.

 

This might be an instance where Shadow Keeper can save your butt. I'd use SK to edit her Int back up to 17, as it appears to be a bug or something. She probably had a feeblemind or other spell cast on her, but then maybe you rested or something, and the effect accidentally became permanant.

 

I think there is a ring or something in the Underdark that puts your intelligence to 3.

That could be it!

 

Hmmm... You can't even become a mage with an intelligence of three, so the manual doesn't say. There must be some exceptions for when it is lowered magically though. I just can't find anything on it.

 

Not sure but... have you killed Bohdi (correctly) and thus allowed Imoen to be 'whole' again? Perhaps too much time went by and the 'lowered' Intelligence was the outcome of the time delay. Recall her 'missing soul' affects her differently than your main character.

I 'rushed' things after catching up with her, I went straight from the Assylum to the Underdark/quests back up to the surface and then straight for Bohdi. Afterwards I finished up a few other quests before finishing the game.

 

Here goes:

As I think this is a bug, I´ve used Shadow Keeper to restore her Intel.

However, I did notice that her belt is missing, you know the one that could not be moved.

I haven't killed Bohdi yet, but this should't be the reason, as nobody else apparently have experienced this.

 

It very well could be a bug... However I didn't experience this. I was only suggesting a 'possible' cause. Also, the 'Belt' was removed when I came accross Imoen in the 'Assylum Guantlet' that Bohdi makes you run as well.

Again, even though my party didn't have a 'Feebleminded' Imoen doesn't mean that it 'can't' happen. I know that some who play BG2 'rest alot', or take on numerous side quests when a 'timeline' is ticking down to 0. Thus I pointed to how Imoen reacts DIFFERENTLY to being not 'whole' and perhaps urgency to resolve this would be a party's priority.

This MAY be one of the few quests in BG2 that you have to move 'rapidly' to make IMOEN whole again. Otherwise (as noted by her dialouge about feeling 'different', 'strange' and such) this INTELLIGENCE 3 could be the side effect of delaying...

But as noted, it could be a bug and for those of you who use editors... it can quickly be fixed!

 

The only thing that makes me think is a bug, is the fact that you get no glue. No journal entry or some dialogue where Imoen tells you she is getting worse.

Anyway, just did the Bohdi quest, so everything should be just fine.

 

This same thing happened to my little Aerie.. I'm in chapter 2 still, and I noticed she suddenly had became very dump. I think this happened when I was doing that Unseeing Eye-quest..

If I remember right, she is wearing Ring of Protection +1, Bracers of AC 6, some amulet that gives her one more level 2 spel memorised and some belt that gives her constitution of 18 (I'm not sure is it once in a day or does that only have 1 charge)..

So nothing that would really make her to lose her intelligence.

And that number is not red, and I have tried to rest it off and such. I'm going to throw her away from my group anyway, but just wanted you to know about this..
